Murry still with some digs at Tsitsipas

It's getting a bit embarrassing now from Murray - hope he stops his whining soon.
He had his chance to potentially win his match against Tsitsipas in straight sets, it's on him that he didn't win the 2nd set tiebreak when it was on his racquet.
I'm not a fan of Tsitsipas and don't agree with him taking an 8 minute break after the 4th set, however 34 year old Murray should not have let the situation affect him mentally to the extent that it did and he just wasn't good enough to win the match in the end.

Murray should just let this go at this point. Shady move by Tsitsipas with the bathroom antics, I'm sure we can all agree, but that match is in the past now.

It was a heartbreaking loss for our Andy. One point away from beating the World #3. With an artificial hip! Would have been one of the most shocking upsets in U.S. Open history.
Lots of positives from this match.
But the huge red flag here is that he was winded after three sets. Moping around in pain.
How much of that was the typical Murray fakery and melodrama? That is impossible to tell. But his fitness is definitely an issue. Not clear how he is ever going to be a factor at five set majors.

This entire situation with him is utterly hilarious to me. Sidelining legit gamesmanship issues for a moment, the whole aesthetic image of it - his shameless 'not my fault it's your fault!' interviews and 'technically right' rationale for it, his overall bratty demeanor, lack of charisma and annoying appearance, umpires admitting to being powerless combined with camera shots of his father on the phone and the fact that this is about extreme toilet abuse and how visibly angry players get with it - it's hard not to laugh every time it happens, and it just keeps escalating.
Not sure how this role of a cowardly toilet enthusiast villain / heel character is going to play out for him, perhaps it can make him burn everyone and elevate his matches and results as his game can be exciting and he's a fantastic player in the right moment, coupled with an annoyed player across the net that's out for blood. But in any case I'd be lying if I said all the drama and jabs that it has generated so far weren't entertaining, as well as giving some flair to his matches.

I absolutely love Murray, however, this is a little case of the pot calling the kettle black. How many times has Murray feined lethargy or injury of some sort, only to come back more energetic and win the match? How many times has he sworn and repeatably insulted his box? Come on Andy, nobody is perfect.

When 2011 came around Murray was the bridge between the "big 3" and the rest, he was never truly on their level on a consistent basis.
Djokovic's 2011 domination was what convinced me that we had a "big 3" rather than a "big 4".

Ok I'm both a fan of Tsitsipas and Andy, and I didn't really care who won between them a couple days ago... but this is just pathetic. I'm glad Tsitsipas won now

As I said earlier this is the bad side of twitter. It's too often tempting to keep venting your spleen about things which you wouldn't have been able to do before twitter came along. He probably would have got over it by now if not for the temptation to keep reaching for his phone and tweeting sarcastic comments to all and sundry. I understand that it must be tempting to get one's frustrations made public, but would someone necessarily do that if there wasn't a receptive audience out there?
If not the majority, then certainly the plurality of social media users create and environment where the lowest common denominator runs wild.
It's easy to see how otherwise reasonable people could be dragged into this level of discourse and conduct, when it is given carte blanche by society.

Murray is right. If Tsitsipas continues down this path, the next thing you know he'll be screaming and swearing at and blaming his team for any deficiencies in his game and acting like he needs to see a mortician every point he loses during a five hour match.

A veteran player like he is should know not to sit down if there is an extended break in play, but keep moving and even go onto the court and hit a few balls. That way he wouldn't tighten up and would be loose and well-rested when play resumed. He could have used the breaks to his advantage.

I feel Murray has a right to complain as much as he wants to. He's returned to professional play despite incredible odds. Tsitsipas strikes me as a spoiled overly-entitled, arrogant fellow who doesn't care about the rules. He needs to be told to stop this nonsense. But, I doubt anyone will unless it affects someone like Djokovic, then you'll see results.

Perhaps some of Andy's issue is that he really should have won the match against the Greek. He had two SP's in the second to go up two sets to love, but he blew them both.
And I agree with Prairiegirl totally - Tsitsipas needs to stop his nonsense. The fact he arrogantly continues to take 4 hour toilet breaks when he's being criticized for it boggles the mind. No shame whatsoever.
