Nadal doesn't look ready

The power is obviously there, so is the tennis ability, but the stamina is definitely missing. He was sweating buckets today while his Italian opponent looked totally dry.

Rafa is'nt going to win this one.

If by miracle he gets by Thiem, Nole will butcher him in the final.

Nadal might stumble against Zverev as well. The German is on FIRE.
Can Nadal play THREE consecutive 5 setters? Zverev in 5 and then Thiem in 5 and then a final against his nightmare Novak?

Today’s match was indoor, didn’t affect play one bit. In fact, Nadal played his best match so far.

The opposition will be completely different from the quarterfinals.
Is he ready for three physical battles?

Nadal always sweats a lot, so I guess the OP has never seen Nadal play.
Having said that, Nadal was hardly sweating today, when compared to what we saw in Australia.
The only question I have is, will Nadal drop a set at this French Open?
I don't think he will, based on what I'm seeing.
He looks significantly better than last year.
His forehand is redirecting the ball like never before, with absolute ease, and Djokovic has always looked utterly hopeless when Nadal has redirected the ball down-the-line.
There is a good chance Nadal will again serve a bagel and breadstick to Djokovic in the Final.

@DSH

Chatrier is Nadal’s court no matter the conditions. It’s Thiems and Zverevs of the world who should prove they can touch him there, not elsewise.

Exactly - very surprising how people fail to get this time & again.
Nadal is 24-0 in French Open Semis and Finals and 96-2 overall. That record is enough to make most players wet themselves on court this year - except Djokovic and maybe Thiem.
And I would only believe Thiem or Zverev could beat him on Chatrier if they are a double break up serving for the match. Otherwise...

Also 28 winners, 13 UEs today and looked solid overall.

Rafa had no second gear in Rome vs Shwartz: what makes people think he found it in just 2 weeks ?

He's 34.

He's actually hitting the ball better here than he did in Rome, and serving much better too. But yes, I still think he'll make unforced errors if forced to play extra balls against good players.

The OP sounds as stupid as Djokovic's father.

Dude, you started off making an argument that the guy didn't look ready because he was sweating buckets. That's literally a completely clueless statement. That's not to say your initial point is wrong, I myself have thought a likely outcome for him here would be something very similar to the Australian Open in 2019, but we're not going to know until he's tested, and there's been nothing so far to suggest it.

Thanks for the tip.

Betting my house on it.

I honestly have no idea what to think of Nadal.... I believe but at the same time, the draw is crazy.
:-D
What crazy about Bull's draw? Playing Thiem in the SF does not make his draw "Crazy" and it's first time since ever ffs. Dominic was always in Djokovic's half for the past 4 years.

He's also facing a freaking qualifier in the 4R, what else you guys want!!

Zverev-Thiem-Djokovic at 34, come off it. Im not saying the draw is unfair, im saying it's bad for this current Nadal, which it is.
