If I were a Nadal fan, I'd choose Fed (just numerically speaking) - especially considering his slam winning days are all but over whereas Djokovic's may or may not come to an end soon. If we assume Nadal fans want Nadal to be GOAT, then having the slam count be 20-20-19 going into Wimbledon is a bad idea. Assuming Novak gets only 1 of them and Rafa gets neither, then we'd be at 20-20-20 going into the AO. Would be very bad news. On the other hand, if Fed wins RG we end up with 21-20-19 going into AO, which bodes much better.

Plus... "Even an 87-year old Federer can win RG without Nadal! Imagine how many he would've won in 2005-2015 without Nadal there to stop him! Nadal infini-GOAT."

Federer. Nadal will still catch him and take over.

An amazing situation, no?
Federer for sure. After SA last year i find it hard to not have a very soft spot for Roger. If Rafa wins RG and then say skipped W id be rooting hard for Roger to win it.
For me between them they are so great such legends and have impeccable behaviour (no smashed rackets vulgar words, hitting linespeople and boastful remarks or lack of humility after a failed event badly timed) that while i prefer Rafa to have slam record i would be perfectly fine with them sharing it or Roger having it.

I would appreciate tennis, without rooting for any of them in particular. Same way as I did at Wimbledon 2019.

Actually, at Wimbledon 2019 my head said Djokovic, but my heart said Federer. I "rationally" supported Djokovic, but "emotionally" favored Federer. At the beginning of the match I thought: "If Federer wins #21, defeating Nadal and Djokovic en passant, it is over". Subsequently, I deciced to support Djokovic from the very start of the match. Notwithstanding, I must confess that, as the match progressed, I could appreciate some quasi-mythological aura involving Federer's heroic feat. There he was, in the process of defeating at age 37 both of his greatest rivals, and playing with an exquisite techiique. Everything looked perfect for Roger. It seemed as if he were destined to cement his GOAT status ad eternum that afternoon.

When Roger was 40-15 up, I assumed he had it in the bag. It is over. Federer forever GOAT. And then it happened: the most hearthbreaking loss in tennis history. I watched the match surrounded by Federer fans, and all of them looked devastated. Obviously, it favored my interests, as now Nadal can potentially get the Slam record. But still, I felt bad for Roger. No one deserves such a brutally unfortunate loss.

Nadal fans will always root for Federer

Nd as ironic as it may sound, at the cost of his record being broken even Federer and his fans will root for Nadal.

Both of Federer & Nadal are aware of Djokovic being the real threat.

Federer himself does not want Novak to hold the record for most slams.

We want the holder of the slam record to be a humble mythical King or a graceful Maestro :D

I am ready to root for Federer as in this scenario Novak is at least reaching finals. Honestly I don't see him going deep this time.
