This shouldn’t be possible. Especially not in a m1000. Fix the scheduling because a SF not being played because one of the players is tired is absolutely ridiculous. I know it doesn’t happen that often but the sole fact that the possibility exists that one player goes “I’m not feeling 100% and got no chance of winning, might as well not play” is wrong on its own.

What about the vitriol poured upon Fed when he forfeited a match in Rome against Tsitipas when playing two matches in one day? His second match (against Borna) lasted 3 hours. When he pulled out at age 37, there was mass hysteria here.

Sorry but I think this is just wrong of Monfils. He set himself up to withdraw by limping and bending over and calling the trainer and all that. He knew he wasn't going to play Rafa. I told my hubby he would withdraw. This isn't a new thing for Monfils. Should have retired and given RBA the match. I'm pissed right now.

He knew Rafa was waiting for him. He knew he would never play that semi if he won the match. He could have given the match to his opponent.
But it’s money and also Monfils job. I bet he got some serious cash winning the match. Who doesn’t like cash? Getting that amount of cash makes it difficult to make the right decision.
