Q. Well, maybe your approach to this championship this year as opposed to your approach last year.
RAFAEL NADAL: Yeah. Well, I think probably I didn't play today I played well, but before today I didn't play my best Roland Garros if we speak in terms of what I feel on court.
But I played my best clay court season before Roland Garros. That's for sure, no? Last year my feeling was I won in Monte Carlo, Barcelona, and Rome, but probably is difficult to understand. It was difficult to understand for me too how I won that tournaments because I felt I didn't play well.
So probably was because the dynamic was very positive, very positive since the beginning of the year. I arrived on clay and I won for that reason, but not for tennis, I think. And when I arrived here and I found opponent that push me to the highest level, I wasn't ready to win.

The whole interview is very interesting. You can find it hear:

Nadal didn't say he was injured, he just didn't find his game at RG 2009. He doesn't have to be superhuman or injured, when he loses.

Met Soderling who played great and lost. It's simple and acceptable. Is it hard to understand by some *******s?

Actually he does mention his problems in that interview I believe. And he has mentioned them many times over the last year. It was real. Get over it. But yes it's an interesting interview I suppose.

"For me, the last year the harder thing wasn't lose. The harder thing was arrive to probably the most important part of the season in my worst conditions possible. "

Nadal says later in that interview:
The harder thing was arrive to probably the most important part of the season in my worst conditions possible.

...

He won easily to me last year. Obviously I was not at my top level last year.

All ancient history. I thought this was from this year. Waste.

Yep, the interview is from 4.6.10. I guess, you are living in 2020. :???:

Hey, I am not saying he wasn't injured or hurt or whatever. He just said, he didn't play well, not that he was injured.

That's 1 year after his defeat and given the fact he doesn't speak english so well, he didn't use the simple word "injured", but went around with " not playing well, my worst conditions" etc.

As I thought before, for me personally, this proves once again that Nadal doesn't believe so much in the injured thing. He felt that he wasn't at his best and met opponent that beat him.

Sorry, I thought it was last year's interview. They do that a lot around here. My apologies.

The Nadal "injury excuse" was manufactured by someone on this forum. I don't recall ever hearing Nadal saying he was injured. But yeah, this one poster started that and like little minions, some people took it and ran with it.

Well Nadal and his crew did talk about his knees, how he couldn't bend over, or move properly. Not sure what you mean by them not saying he was injured.

Never read that. If so, that's one.

Why do you think he pulled out of Wimbledon, skipped queens, lost the two grass exos he played? You don't think he had knee problems last year?

I know he had knee problems, but in his interviews I never heard him make excuses. Common sense says he wouldn't skip Wimbledon and purposely lose in two grass matches. A lot of posters here say he's always making excuses. There is no proof to support that.

Oh gotcha. Yeah, Nadal tends to keep it on the down low. Sorry, I wasn't clear what you meant.
