Is he wrong?
His approach and getting his opponents out of position is goat, however when those aren’t good his volleys are not GOAT material. Pretty good, but not as good as Fed. Not in the top 20 of all time even.Is he wrong?
The power one dimensional guy shouldn't even talk about volleys since he doesn't know what they are.
Desperation and propaganda.I don't understand the interest in this person.
Mainly the desperation part.Desperation and propaganda.
Remember what I said about trolling yesterday?Wrong. Volley GOAT is clearly Baghdatis
Drop volleys already have a master, sorry.Nadal is good at net, with great hands...but he doesn't hit the best volleys.
Outside of overheads and drop volleys, his repertoire at net is limited.
Currently, he is the only ATP player younger than 20 that can win four or five matches in a row.I don't understand the interest in this person.
Baghdatis is a beast. Don't underestimate Marcos the MaestroRemember what I said about trolling yesterday?
McEnroe probably knows a thing or 2 about volleys one would guess and he repeatedly says Rafa is the best volleyer!Since Sinner comes to the net just to shake hands, who gives af about what he thinks about volleys? If he had any interest in that aspect of tennis he would volley more than 3 times a year.
Federer - Nadal record is 3-3 in 5 set matches.I disagree with the mental strength. Djokovic is #2 on 5-set win %, to Borg. Nadal has been sliding the list for years. In '17-18, he lost 4 straight 5-set matches!
Djokovic is top 3 in TB win %, along with Isner and Federer, 2 great servers. Nadal is down the list!
Just look at 5-set matches among B3: Djokovic-Nadal 2-1; Djokovic-Federer 4-0; Federer-Nadal 2-2
Nadal has had the case of the nerves in many recent matches, that he should've won: '17 ag AO Federer; '20 AO ag Thiem; '21 AO ag Tsisipas
I think your imagination is getting the better of you.His approach and getting his opponents out of position is goat, however when those aren’t good his volleys are not GOAT material. Pretty good, but not as good as Fed. Not in the top 20 of all time even.
The best hands at the net. I think playing doubles has helped Rafa's volleying skills a lot. Right now he is the best. He knows exactly when to play a volley. Some people confuse this with S&V as in Micha Zverev but that's not what we are talking about.Sinner understands the good tennis.
Seriously though, Nadal has some great hands at the net.

To be fair, he could have played any style and he'd still beat RG 2018 final Thiem.I do think Nadal's handskills get underrated at times for sure. I mean he beat Thiem at RG 2018 at the net.

Ken Rosewall approves this comment.
Did he volley? Your comrade (a Fed devotee) said above he comes to the net just to shake hands...ok, that might explain some of his volleys yesterday...
Maybe because Djo-covid hits better passing shots and forces more errors than Mugdvedev.2019 Wimbledon Final had 422 points.
Federer came to the net 65 times (won 51).
2019 US Open Final had 341 points.
Nadal came to the net 66 times (won 51).
lol the number of times you keep peddling these stats...2019 Wimbledon Final had 422 points.

Thanks, I forgot to like that post.Did he volley? Your comrade (a Fed devotee) said above he comes to the net just to shake hands...
Ah, but you aren't giving the Medman enough credit. Look at his expert Wikipedia entry:In the current top 20 there is a grand total of ONE player who approaches the net less than Nadal in Tennis Abstract's database -- Diego Schwartzman. That list includes several players suffering a serious case of net allergy, including PCB, RBA, Rublev, Zverev, Medvedev.
While he undeniably has competent hands at the net, I find it impossible to name him the best volleyer of this era (let alone all time) when he is that selective.
