I kinda find it strange that they would risk having Nadal play yesterday despite knowing his wrist issue.

I mean wouldn't it have made sense to give him a day off and have him play today with Roger? Because this is the biggest attraction of laver cup - seeing Roger and Rafa together. Wouldn't that have been a smarter call? I am sure the wrist wasn't some new info to Borg and Federer.

Doesn't work that way. Every player has to play one singles match in the first couple of days.

Has nothing to do with how close Kyrgios came to beating Federer.

Nothing at all.

What type of surface is this Laver Cup thing on? Rafa would have been favored.
In any case, it is a meaningless exhibition. Only 2 sets + TB. Rafa doesn't care enough about it to dodge Kyrgios.

Just a thought. Did you ever expect Nadal to pull out of RG2016 with the way he was playing up to then? That came completely out of the blue. And it was a wrist issue. Not talking about being reenergized. Talking about an injury to his wrist which he's had before.
He also nursed a wrist injury before Acapulco that effectively prevented him from preparing for the tournament earlier this year. It didn't derail his season though.

Djokodal should boycott Laver Cup and Fed will have no choice but cancel this crap tournament.

Who cares about Djokovic? Who even mentioned him?

Nadal is the big draw (along with Federer). Djokovic could boycott and it wouldn't make a difference because he isnt nearly as popular as the big 2. That's why he told his coach that he's confused that he doesnr get cheered as much and why its bothered him.

Come on, dude. Djokovic is 16-time Grand Slam champion and current World No. 1. It's heavy weight in tennis, whether you like it or not. I registered questions about Djoker's absence during this year's LC.

Where are you located?

Looks like Nadal may not get that #1 ranking now. Rest up for AO2020 I guess. Although he's had a problem with the wrist before.
Perfect excuse for Rafa to take rest of year off now.

I mean he is getting married soon does anyone really believe he had any intention playing rest of season after bagging 2 Majors? If he did no way he would have gone Laver Cup. This was an end of season jolly with the boys...almost like his stag do!!!!!.

Djokovic wont play either ill bet.

You should be more respectful to other peoples' opinions on this forum. Many of us have been watching the sport longer than you have.
You are not writing opinions, you are writing some BS. According to you Nadal in AO 2019 was peak Nadal. If that's not BS then I don't know what is.

They can play 100 exhibtions once they retire.

I want another battle of the surfaces.

And yet he isn't relevant. Which is why according to his coach, he desperately seeks the adoration that the big 2 get.

Expecting Nadal to play 4 matches in 2 days was insane.

I doubt Djokovic is boycotting the event - he also is injured. How seriously, we really dont know.

As for Nadal playing Davis Cup - if he is even slightly injured, he shouldnt. While Davis Cup is older than Laver Cup, it's just as much an exhibition as Laver Cup.

The bottom line however is that all tennis events are entertainment for us fans and a business for their organizers - and they all bring in great numbers of fans, and great sums of $$ - even the majors.

Novak needs to learn to be like Lendl i.e. not give three craps about what fans think of him.

It´s always cringe when a grown person strives to be popular.

A lot of overreaction here. We don't even know whether the injury is serious and a lot of his fans already say his season is over.

I fail to see your point, just looks like a way to say "haha the player I love is popular and the player I hate is not".

They're just being realistic. Nadal is always looking for an excuse to pull out of the indoor season and can't wait to do so.

Why does that bother you? You miss watching him play? It's ok buddy, he will be back soon. Hope you survive till then.

It's amazing, guys that hate him miss him more than his fans. You have to admire the guy, for making his haters miss him o_O

Well it's easy to be dismissive of this situation when the fanbase is solidly behind Fedal and have been for well over a decade! Like Lendl in a past era of greatness, Nole should just go about his business and continue dueling these legends while setting his own records! He has tons already that Fedal will never touch including his Nole-Slam & winning all 14 Premiere events at least once! Fedal's past ever getting close!

He should play in Bercy and London and avoid the Davis Cup at all costs.
Let's see what decision the Nadal's team will make now.
He won't do that, like ever. DC is one if the tournaments he cares the most. And this year (the first one on this format) is being held in his country

Yeah. But it's the other way around taking only 2019 into consideration. Meaning, the best of the current year
Agreed. But Nadal has to put in a lot of effort to get that #1 ranking and it might do more bad than good in the long run. Perhaps just let it go and get ready for Melbourne is the best bet. Slams are more important than weeks at #1.
