Awsome, you really like that racket. It is the racket of choice for Gilles Muller. He beat RAFA at Wimbledon so maybe you can do the same...?
Noticed that Monfils and Keys plays with them

Wow. The price really has gone up by quite a lot since I purchased it a couple years ago. May not buy it again.
Looks like their prices are still less than other brands. I have not ever hit with gut for fear I won't be able to go back to synthetics.

Very legitimate concern ! :) I had it also and yes, you won't go back... unless you have one season in the year where you play in humid or wettish conditions together with abrasive conditions like red clay, then... you'll have to figure out a backup solution, like I did.

And #1 finished !

I prefer the grommets on the Counter Vail way more compared to the previous Ultra

NGW gut broke 2 days ago . . .

So it lasted 25 days and close to 135 hours of playing and tournaments

So no complaining here !

That is amazing it lasts that long. Does your Daughter hit hard. I usually get about 20-25 hours out of gut/poly setup.

I don't cut them out

See how long the gut lasts with Luxilon Rough

That is awesome, saves a lot of $$$.

I have been using Pacific Classic 17, just bought some Babolat Tonic to try. Never used it before in my current stick, hoping for longer life.

Don't care was just curious if it was for any specific reason related to NG or something else.
Only thing that happened once was that - for whatever reason - a knot came loose

If I had it cut short . . . no way I could have knot it again

The V4 NGW Gut in 17g black

Thanks Kevin !

VFFGxHuh.jpg

I have bought 15g black string and now debating it as this is probably too thick.Kevin was really helpful so I bought 10 packs of them.

There is so much oil on the strings and my hand was slipping while stringing.I user Klipper mate and I have already strung three racquets one racquet even at 61lbs.
No problem stringing them even though i have a old Klippermate.

I have tried on my 14 old wilson blade 98L with Gut N.G.W 15g mains and 4 G crosses and she didn't like as it was too powerful even at 57/55lbs.Now I'm trying it on the same racquet ALU power mains (59lbs ) and GUT crosses 61lbs and this racquet seems to play better for me.

I was planning to try it on RF97 but not sure after this experience as it might be too powerful for me esp someone that is used to polys for so long.

I have lot of Hyper G left so I thought of trying Hyper G mains and GUT crosses or Gut Mains and Hyper G crosses on my RF97.

The V3 Black 17g lasted 16 days and the makes more than 48 playing including 3 tournaments

I just strung one of our Wilson Ultra Counter Vail with the new V4 Black NGW in 17g

Can you see the battle scars after 2 weeks of playing . . .

The V4 gust is way more consistent and string way easier than the previous versions !

Anyone know what’s going on with Klip legend strings? Seems like it’s been out of stock at all vendors for some time now.

Since this is the NGW Gut thread perhaps this is the right moment for you to get and try some [emoji23]

Currently playing with Tourna Quasi Gut Armor in the mains but my strings last only about 3-4 hitting sessions. I'm open to some new mains so I ordered some Klip Legend 16g and NGW version 4 natural resin coated. I'll post my comments here.

I should actually be getting the NGW today, and will string up and hit a bit tonight. Stay tuned!

Got my v4 gut. Nice and easy to string up. The gauge didn't vary too drastically but there were definitely spots where the string was just a tad thicker. I could feel when pulling through the grommets. Still not that big of a concern as it was very minimal maybe only 2 spots in the 20 feet section.

Here's some pictures of the packaging it came in. (sorry for the orientation, I posted it with tapatalk)

I'm not going to post my full string review until I hit a little more with it.

Update:
Comparing NGW v4 vs Klip Legend. Straight and to the point.

Both are about the same price point. 3 dollars may seem like a lot but I hybrid them so it really comes to a difference of 1.50 per stringing.
Klip $28.95
NGW v4 $25.98

I'd pay the $1.50 dollars more for Klip Legend every single time, the Klip was better in every aspect. I don't see a reason on why anyone would by NGW v4 vs Klip Legend (if it was available).

I'll write a more detailed review when I have more time. I can see if NGW was cheap like < 15 it might be a viable option, but their top tier offering (v4) does not even come close to Klip.

Where can I purchase the NGW?

I'm about to string my 97RFA's with Klip ngut mains and Tourna Silver in the crosses. can't wait to see what hitting with natural gut is all about.

I look forward to reading your review. I've never played with natural gut and about to string with Klip tonight.

I agree. I was buying NGW for $10 per set but at the current pricing i'll move to Klip once i exhaust my supply of NGW.

I have tried to use these strings more than once. Ordered 16g and the quality control was so bad that certain parts of the string looked like they were 19g and others looked like they were 14g. The string would not fit through the holes of my racquet (one string per hole) which made it impossible to string. Pulling the string there was a tremendous amount of stretch even after trying to pre-stretch. Had two racquets strung the same and felt totally different. Hope the V4 is better with these issues but I am having a hard time pulling the trigger and ordering anymore of this string. The guy sent me more string and the same issues were present. The replacement string actually snapped on the stringer and I was stringing the mains at 55. No confidence in that product.

So I've played with Klip natural gut @ 59 lbs in the mains and Tourna Silver in the crosses @ 57 lbs. I have finally found my ideal string. Just keeping track of the hours I get out of this setup and when the strings go dead to justify the $18 per racket in string cost, which isn't that high considering how great it feels. played for 2 hours and going to play again tomorrow. Natural gut is the way to go.

Still looking forward to the review on the NGW string.

For $6 it's a deal, but $10 or 12 for a set is already a steal. My last purchase was $56 for 10 sets black 1.40 gut sent from India. After I have found an old stash of 40 VS Gut sets, I am now in a state of NGW cease and desist.

Last attempt (still having 4 sets left). Holds good, too powerful, so had to restring the crosses at higher tension and add some stringsavers. Difficult to spin.

Snapping strings on the stringer provided me with no value. Trying to play an event after being used to playing with gut/poly and having no string. Had to go buy VS out of a pro shop and pay $50 a set. If I can’t rely on a string it has no value. Found 40 sets of VS? That would be nice to happen across $1800-$2000 worth of string. VS is the best.

I said found, not purchased. ;) 10.2 and 10.3 m the set, that old. But quality is better than Wilson gut (which is rumored to be the old legendary VS).

Got a set of Klip Legend and while not quite the consistency of Tonic it's really nice gut.

I've posted my experience with NGW earlier in this thread, but I urge anyone to purchase a real gut and compare. One look is all you need to know that one is really manufactured - clear and consistent - and one of made by some machine that just twists a single strand of material until it reaches something like the claimed diameter.

To my eyes and experience, the only difference between Global Gut, NGW V1, and V2 was the packaging.

Seriously folks, here's the $28.95 Klip Legend:

klip_legend.jpg

Just compare it to the photo a few posts ago. When it comes to your time and game, do you really need to pinch pennies that badly? If NGW was far cheaper, sure, but as it stands I simply cannot fathom taking a chance on a string that you even have to wonder if it will make it off the stringer.

If anyone is wondering if I have some sort of vendetta against NGW I don't, but I will confess that having the business owner suggest that simply wasn't stringing it correctly did rub me the wrong way.

Picture is not loading for me.

Have you had a chance to play with both NGW and Klip? How do they compare? I've just put Klip NG in the mains and Tourna Silver in the crosses, and although it is the first time using natural gut, this is the best setup that I've used after going through a dozen or so string and string combinations.

NGW is OK if it gets off the stringer and you hit with it. Longevity and feel nowhere near Legend or Tonic but if you were guaranteed usable strings I'd say they would be fun to hit with. But with real natural gut (VS, Wilson, Tonic, Legend, etc) gut in the mains and a soft poly in the crosses and several months use out of that setup plus the best feel start to finish, well, you can guess what my choice would be for anything remotely serious.

I have purchased a few sets of NGW and the longest I have had a set last was like an hour; until this last set. I currently have NGW 16/poly in my Blade 98L and I have about 2 hours hitting on it with no breakage. If I get over 10 hours with it, I would be amazed. I bought a set of Tough Gut last year which lasted like 40+ hours of hard hitting. Much better deal.

Just strung a set of Pacific Classic 17 in a hybrid. I've been sitting on this set for a few years actually while i've been using the NGW stuff, various versions.
No comparison when just looking at or stringing it, but i've yet to play with it. I expect no comparison there either.

Still have several sets of NGW which i will use, but i can't, with a good conscience, sell the stuff in a string job.

Another update for you all. About another 4-6 hours of play with NGW/poly in my blade light and it is still going strong. I have played with two sets of gut prior to NGW and this particular half set of gut feels like the bigger box name brands, The sad part is that I have had the other 8 half sets break either just sitting in the racquet or after less than 1 hour play. This string is wildly inconsistent which means it is not worth it. Too bad because this last half set was great.

Yeah, I took another chance on the V4. I ordered 2 sets (4 1/2 sets) of the 17g black and 2 of the 17g red.

Set 1 of the black...one half set looked to be 20g and the other 15Lg. Shocker...the 20g one snapped on the first pull. I had set the machine for 50lbs, but it snapped before it made it to 30lbs. I did not use the 15L version as I don't like thick strings.

Set 2 of the black...one half set again looked to be 15L. The other looked the closest to 17g, so I took a shot with that and strung up my Fischer Pro No 1 FT with YPTP crosses (50lbs gut, 48lb YPTP). I've played 2 singles matches (both indoors vs strong 4.5 baseliners) and its holding up well. Plays really nicely. However...

If I cannot depend on gauge consistency, how can I possibly use this? I might be able to put the 15L in a customer's frame (there are some 3.5 ladies I string for that suffer from elbow problems), and I'll discount their cost accordingly, but its just not worth the risk.

I have not looked at the 2 sets of red yet.

Strung this one again on Sunday with V4 and no problem

Now I use a Laser Fibre drop weight

And never had a string that broke while a racquet was sitting in a bag

BTW - the reason to string was because the Luxilon broke !
