Please let the Pacers get knocked out early, such a boring team to watch.
I want to see run and gun so go Clippers, OKC, Knicks, Heat.

Playoff basketball slows down a lot.

I love it. Every possession has meaning. Really great stuff to watch.

Indiana is built for the playoffs. Solid bigs and strong wing D. A goon in Hansborough who is going to sucker some poor star into a tech or ejection.

Indiana will be fun to watch if they play Miami. Love the style contrast.

Stop being stupid. Kobe plays ZERO defense. None. Michael Jordan at 34 was still a top 5 defender in the entire league. Kobe is well below average on the defensive end.

Kobe is the epitome of a stat padder.

Truth here. Kobe is having an unbelievable and noteworthy season carrying the team offensively, but is playing absolutely no defense this year. A Lakers fan(s) actually started a detailed blog about this very issue, though Kobe could just be doing it out if necessity to save all energy for offense.

Dont forget about Rockets and Nuggets.

My Rockets will likely be ousted in R1 unless we can grab the 6 seed but I feel like whomever we play, we'll provide some fun games.

A Rockets-Nuggets series would be total bananas fun.

LOL at the idiots saying Kobe Bryant isn't a good defender. When you're so blessed offensively, people have the misconception that you aren't good defensively. Well, he is and has been for some time now one of the premier defensive guards in the NBA. But what's sexier? "Kobe Bryant drops 47 on Knicks" or "Kobe Bryant leads team in 4th quarter charges"?

Chicago Bulls and Derrick Rose: We get it, Derrick Rose may not play this year. We got the message the first time, you don't to announce it on a weekly basis that Derrick Rose may not play.

2nd best decision ever made by TNT:

Put Steve Kerr, Reggie Miller, and Chris Webber on the same broadcast table and let them call the Warriors/Thunder game.

When they're not cracking jokes, they're engaged in interesting discussions about the game. It's a joy to listen!

What's the best decision ever? Put E.J., Kenny Smith, and Charles Barkley together on a broadcast table.

Thunder made a bucket at the end of the 2nd quarter:
Steve Kerr: "AT THE BUZZER!"
Reggie Miller: Heard laughing, smacking the table and stuff "Who needs the Marvelous?! (Marv Albert)"

You are too stupid for words. :)

Kobe Bryant's defense has been absolutely abysmal all season long. He has made exactly ZERO effort to defend. When you are a strictly one way player like Kobe is, it allows you to save a lot of energy to maximize your offensive productivity.

And it's not only Kobe. Steve Nash has been a terrible defender throughout his entire career, and his defense has taken another nosedive this season with all of his injuries.

Kobe and Nash are easily one of the worst starting defensive backcourts in the nba.

Dwight's far from 100% and it goes without saying that dantoni is completely clueless on defense.

I'm not sure if you have the ability to read, but it's worth a shot:

Yeah ok, the Portland guys just happened to lay the ball into Kobe's hands right?

Or maybe he was wearing a Blazer jersey on few occasions and got a pass?

Sure, 3 steals and 4 blocked shots isn't defense, alright man.

The stats are deceptive. Kobe gambles too much on defense. When the gambles pay off he looks like a good defender. When they don't, he counts on Gasol and Howard to bail him out. And if they don't, he yells at them as if it were their fault. If you count the open looks the opponents get on failed gambles then he's just an ok defender. He plays better defense when he just concentrates on checking his man instead of cheating off of him.

Kobe is atrocious at the single most important facet of defense: staying in front of his man. I posted some links, as it's clear you don't actually watch him play.

You know someone is looking for a pointless argument when they start pointing out isolated incidents as supporting evidence. EVERYONE gets blown-by at one point or another. LeBron James, Shane Battier, Tony Allen, Avery Bradley, Dwyane Wade, Chanucey Billups, Grant Hill, and many other premier perimeter defender have ALL gotten blown-by at one point or another. If you don't get blown-by, that means you ain't spending enough time in front of your guy. It's like saying someone has never been dunked on, he just moves out of the way.

www.nba.com/history/awards/nba-all-defensive-teams/index.html

Minus his first 3 seasons, and 04-05, Kobe Bryant has made it to NBA's All-Defensive Team year after year. He can't play defense? He's only been selected to the All-Defensive Team for 7 consecutive years. On top of that, all but two of his selections are in the First Teams.

What else do you have for us?

Yeah, I have to side on the No D Kobe Team here. Not talking about one game, but the majority of the season. And again, the guy is having an UNREAL season offensively in how he's carrying the squad on that end, but when you watch him repeatedly (I live in LA), his D this season has been, for the most part, atrocious.

This detailed post written by a Laker fan:

http://www.silverscreenandroll.com/...e-bryants-defensive-hypocrisy-knows-no-bounds

Excerpt:

Is Kobe responsible for all of the Lakers' defensive problems? Of course not. The Lakers employ two players who have been known as the worst of defensive liabilities for years (Steve Nash and Antawn Jamison). There is not a single guard on the team (except for, ironically, Kobe Bryant when he wants to) who has a prayer of staying with the quick guards that at least 1/2 the NBA employs. And Dwight Howard, who was supposed to help erase some of these known defensive weaknesses, has been nowhere near his defensive best for most of the season as he has recovered from last year's back surgery. The Lakers have a myriad of defensive problems, from personnel to scheme and everywhere in between. But their biggest problem is Kobe.

Don't believe me? 82games.com keeps track of a player's effect on team defense by measuring the team's defensive efficiency when the player is on and off the court. For example, take Dwight Howard, who is unsurprisingly the team's best defender. When Dwight is on the court, the Lakers give up 105.1 points per 100 possessions. When he is off the court, the Lakers give up 111.7, so Dwight's net defensive rating is -6.6. Metta World Peace's net is a strong -5.4. Steve Nash makes the defense worse with a net of +1.4. Where does Kobe stand? +3.2. Yes, he's worse than Nash. His net is matched by Antawn Jamison. Only Earl Clark's surprising +3.9 (no doubt skewed by his on-again, off-again participation in the rotation) prevents Kobe from being, statistically, the worst defender on the team.

Those so-called "awards" are a flat out pathetic joke. Only the most ignorant such as yourself think they actually carry any legitimacy.

As in, steve nash as a two time mvp while kobe only won one. Obviously, steve nash is a better player since he has two mvp's. Why, because some boneheaded sports writers gave him the award.

Obviously karl malone was "more valuable" than michael jordan.

These awards are a bad joke. So is all star balloting. You must be reading braille since you obviously don't watch games and have no idea what you are talking about.

It's funny. On espn radio yesterday I was listening to a discussion between basketball writers and I believe the exact quote was, 'The NBA All Defensive Team is as big of a joke as the Gold Glove Awards are in baseball.' They just go to the Big Names, not the truly deserving for that specific award.

Dont quit your day job hoping some NBA team is gonna make you there GM.

Its nice to see that you recognized that i was completely serious.

But its bizarre that rose has been medically cleared for two months but wont play and wont say he's shutting down for the season.

Kobe fell on his own against the Warriors, and he's having problems walking.

He's limping into the locker room, it looks bad because there was no contact and that ankle just gave out.

The word is that Kobe has a torn Achilles, is on crutches, and is done for the season. The officiating in the game was stunningly bad.

Yeah I second on the officiating. At one point, Curry bumped into Howard, who was setting a screen for Steve Blake. The ref called a foul on Curry and Steve Blake shot the free throws.

I hope this fuels (not that he needs anymore fire to get him going) to take the year off, and heal up ALL of his nagging injuries, and come back healthier than before. You can't go out like this Kobe.

Well, LA's defense will now be much improved for the rest of the season. But who will hit that clutch bucket on the other end in crunch time now?

Man. The guy carried that sad team on his back all season and the weight finally proved to be too much. Sad for Kobe that his season had to end this way. Defense notwithstanding, dude was a warrior this year otherwise, gotta give him that.

The Kobe story reminds me of Jeter's problems at the end of the '12 season...he played through a ton of pain and his ankle finally gave out. He's still on the DL. If it is a full Achilles tear, Kobe will be in the same boat at the start of the '13-'14 season. I wouldn't expect him back until after the New Year.

Thought about jeter, too. And to a lesser extent, RG3.

Lessons learned, you just can't ride these older guys as heavily as you always want to.

Sad day for KB fans...

But Kobe being an MJ copycat, he tried to duplicate everything MJ did. MJ broke his ankle in his 2nd season. Kobe copied that too!
Kobe: you're doing it wrong!

Gotta love Kobe.

This is such BS! All the training and sacrifice just flew out the window with one step that I've done millions of times! The frustration is unbearable. The anger is rage. Why the hell did this happen ?!? Makes no damn sense. Now I'm supposed to come back from this and be the same player Or better at 35?!? How in the world am I supposed to do that??
I have NO CLUE. Do I have the consistent will to overcome this thing? Maybe I should break out the rocking chair and reminisce on the career that
was. Maybe this is how my book
ends. Maybe Father Time has defeated me...Then again maybe not! It's 3:30am, my foot feels like dead weight, my head is spinning from the pain meds and I'm wide awake. Forgive my Venting but what's the purpose of social media if I won't bring it to you Real No Image?? Feels good to vent, let it out. To feel as if THIS is the WORST thing EVER! Because After ALL the venting, a real perspective sets in. There are far greater issues/challenges in the world then a torn achilles. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, find the silver lining and get to work with the same belief, same drive and same conviction as ever.
One day, the beginning of a new career journey will commence. Today is NOT that day.
"If you see me in a fight with a bear, prey for the bear". Ive always loved that quote. Thats "mamba mentality" we don't quit, we don't cower, we don't run. We endure and conquer.
I know it's a long post but I'm Facebook Venting LOL. Maybe now I can actually get some sleep and be excited for surgery tomorrow. First step of a new challenge.
Guess I will be Coach Vino the rest of this season. I have faith in my teammates. They will come thru.
Thank you for all your prayers and support. Much Love Always.

Is Nate Robinson in the conversation of 6th man of the year?

He's single handedly shooting the Bulls back into the game against the Heat.

Oh, and he's wearing Jordan 13! :)

Spurs hacking away at Dwight Howard, ignorant Lakers fans are booing. I love how Gregg Popovich doesn't give a f*** about the fans and he just wants to win.

As much as the Lakers fans are booing the Spurs, why don't you boo at Dwight Howard for not being able to make FREE throws?

Lakers bounced back nicely without Kobe and Nash for the key win vs the Spurs, who can't win on the road (five game skid), giving the Thunder inside track for the top seed in the West. Pops threw everyone under the bus except Duncan in his post-game presser. So it's goodbye For Utah if LAL can beat Houston @Staples or the Jazz lose to the 'Wolves or Memphis.

Goudelock (aka Mini Mamba) got added on the roster to fill in Kobe's spot and is eligible for the playoffs to spell Meeks, who hit a couple of key treys last night.

This.

It's a problem in many corners of the NBA. How in the world are there so many lousy free throw shooters? These guys are supposedly professionals. Yet, currently there are about 15 players out of the 120 qualifying for the latest list who shoot less than 70% in free throws.

Imagine if 15 out of the top 120 ATP or WTA players double faulted away 30% or more of their service points.

are the lakers now howard's team? even if it's just for a very short playoff run - is he now the de facto leader of that team?

I'm not sure, many analyst are already agreeing that it's now Howard's team.

However, I would still run my offense through Pau Gasol, he's much more polished, and more of an offensive weapon.

Not sure what the T-MAC deal is about.

If any one get get production out of that guy and get him to buy off on team work it Pops though.

I hope Houstron wins tonight and get that 6 seed and Den gets the 3. What a fun matchup that will be.

I hope Pops can break through T-Mac's limited math skills...Doc Rivers had problems getting him to count to four in '03.:)

Tmac was averaging 25 a game overseas. Not that it's impressive in NBA terms, but he can do one thing still and that is shoot the ball and score.

I think he may provide some punch off the bench. Reminds me of the Mavs signing Vince Carter. The Mavs don't have enough depth, but if Vince was on the spurs he would be nasty. Could play less minutes and just add some offense off the bench.

Tmac got scouted by the spurs overseas and they liked what they saw in terms of getting a playoff roleplayer.

Why do you say so? Denver won the season series 4-0.

Denver-Golden State and an intra-Texas matchup of SA-Houston would be more intriguing I think. Either way, pretty tough for road team to win 7 game series in NBA.
