NBMJ/others: Klip Armour Gut Query

I normally use BDE Rallye 16 gauge hybrid. I would like to try the new Klip Armour. Do you think I should try the Armour in a 17 or 16 gauge? I get very good durability with the BDE, 6 weeks indoors at 3 to 4 times a week.

Is the weight, because of the "coating", of any significance versus other guts?

Thx in advance

The standard rule is to change only one thing at a time, so that would mean sticking w. your normal gauge. I havent noticed the string changing the weight or balance of my frames.

Thx Mojo. I do have a durability question, with the "coating" do you think a 17 gauge Armour is as durable as say a BDE or other comparable 16 gauge gut? I know this is not "science" - just want your opinion.

maybe this will help. I came from using regular KlipLegend17. Am now using ArmourPro17 and it is quite a bit more durable than the reg legend string of the same gauge. I dont know what happens when you wear thru the coating yet, but i suspect beneath the Armourpro17 coating is 18ga gut as the gauges seem very true to size and the Armourpro coating is very thick

I too used the Legend before switching to Armour Pro. I had the Legend on the cross with TF Spinfire 1.25 on the mains. The legend would last right about 12 - 15 hours of play. Now with the Armour Pro (with Signum Pro on the mains), I get over 20 hours ... easy. I don't even keep track anymore. The best thing ..... the string stays playable. No real tension loss. No real power loss. Couple bucks more upfront, but you save on the back end.

has anyone ever used uncoated? ive never used natural gut so call this an observation. when i read the ferguson article, it said that he and sampras liked playing with the string the most right as it was abotu to break, beacause at that point the coating had worn off, and it was pure uncoated gut. so technically does that make klip uncoated the most playable natural gut. or is babolat still supreme, and why? does babolat make an uncoated gut? if not, why?
