New Clamps for Alpha Revo 4000

Hi everyone - Just replaced the bases of the clamps of my alpha revo 4000. Got the alpha gravity release clamp bases, which are great.
Now I want to replace the clamps. Was looking at the Tourna Universal clamps but have a few questions...
1) will this fit in the base?
2) is the height of the clamp compatible with the Alpha Revo 4000 or is it too tall? (looks tall in the pictures)

The tourna clamps are on backorder supposedly for a few months, so no rush, but if they won't work, I'll use the regular alpha clamps.

Thanks in advance!

@happyandbob …may be off base here, but didn’t you change clamps a good while back on your 4000, or did you end up cleaning the clamp surfaces and that worked out for you?

Yes, I bought a used Revo 4000 and the original Alpha clamps were slipping because the friction plates on the clamps looked worn (http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/rehab-worn-clamps.734009/post-16713430). The original owner bought Gamma clamps as replacements. Things I learned with help from many folks on this forum:
  • Not sure about the Tourna clamps, but the Gamma clamps and Alpha clamps are exactly the same -- they look like they're from the same manufacturer and are interchangeable on the Revo
  • The diamond plates were not worn, they were just very gunked up and needed a deeper cleaning than rubbing alcohol. Thanks to advice from @Gamma Tech, I was able to remove all the gunk using sandpaper and WD40 (http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/rehab-worn-clamps.734009/post-16864398)
  • The friction inserts aren't sold anywhere in the US, but I was able to find some from Spinfire Australia. They aren't listed on their website, but you can order by emailing customer support

Thank you! I'll try the WD40 and Sandpaper trick first!

Im planning to try a stiff metal bristle brush next time instead of sandpaper. It took several attempts with sandpaper, I think bristles will do a better job of getting into crevices

good luck!

The Tourna clamps will fit your Alpha. I bought one. Personally, I don't like it very well. It seems too small. Looks like it would be great for racquetball or squash, maybe even badminton, but seem small for tennis. They do work however, and have a smooth action. They were on backorder for months, but you should be able to get them now.

Do you still prefer the alpha clamps? Does anyone have an opinion one way or the other between these two clamps?

I haven't tried the new Alpha clamps. They look sturdy, but the also look wide (not the teeth, but the part where the handle attaches). It's not a deal breaker though, as you can always turn the handles away from the frame. I have some older Alpha clamps that I like best. The Tourna clamps operate very smoothly and hold well. I just think the teeth are a little too close together for a lot of rackets. They probably designed them around 18x20 pattern rackets.
