New Pure Drive 2018?!

Anyone have any luck using a control oriented multi in a Pure Drive? I hit with the new Pure Drive with RPM Blast and it was a little too stiff for me.
I may demo one with a multi. When I had my Pure Drive Tour it played nicely with NXT Control.

I recently demoed the DR98 and it is a nice stick with good feel but I am missing some plow through and stability. Thinking if I can make a Pure Drive comfortable might be the way to go.

Are you using the stock PD? If so, consider customising it by adding a little bit of weight inside the handle. Something like Bostik Blu-Tack (reversible) or silicone gel can go a long way to making the PD very comfortable.

Don't have one but considering demoing it. I hit with one for 5 minutes. The power and plow is addicting. Thanks

Thanks. How much weight have you used? I have the Tour version and currently strung with Revolve in the mains and NXT Control in the crosses and it can still be a bit brassy. I am looking to try and get a little more comfort out of it.

Anywhere between 5 to 20 grams inside the handle. And a little bit of weight in the hoop at 11 and 1 to counter. Not much because I like my racquets with a higher level of Head Light Balance. Alternatively, consider wrapping a big strip or Racquet Guard tape around the outside of most of the hoop.

Keep in mind putting a substance like Blu-Tack or Silicone in the handle will change the feel. YMMV.

You could also try putting the NXT in the mains. Not sure how bad durability will be though, might be worth a try.

Try hyper-g, I think it does a nice job on stiffer frames feeling less brassy

Thanks! Good suggestions as will try that

Yeah I thought about that and will try when these break as I have a pack at home.

Ok...do you hybrid it with anything or full hyper-g?
I use full bed of hyper-g but then again my frames are not stiff like a PD. I’d just replace the revolve mains in your hybrid with hyper-g and see how it works out for you.

Yes..I'd pick the plus if I didn't like the tour so well..

Do you feel the control is better on the Tour vs the Standard? I hit with the Standard for 10 minutes and found it a little tough to control.

I had the last Tour version, have a demo on the way of the new one.

Yes..tour seems to have more control over std..hard to explain it..just does ..
I think more mass goes into the ball and it spins it more which appears to give me more control when I go for lines..

Got my pure drive tour 2018. I’m 65 so the extra power is great for me. Playing two matches, played great. Appears to have better control than the regular pure drive. Got another one coming. Is it stupid to be thinking about a tour plus as a third racquet for certain days. Or is there just too big of a difference between the way they swing ? The tour also volleys better than the regular.

Thanks...it is nice to hear from someone else that enjoys the 107. I only play doubles, and usually string with Lux Alu Power Soft at 57. However, the new 107 I demoed had 4g which has nice and crisp.[/QUOTE

How was the experience playing doubles with the 107? Does the maneuverability compare with that of the standard 100 sq in model? And is it stable on hard hit returns?

Yes I was wondering the same . but also does 107 have too much Trampoline effect and make it too hard to control ??

Check out the Volkl V-Feel 4 2018. Spec is almost identical to the 107 PD. A little longer at 27.6, a little lighter 292g strung,105 sq inch, and less SW 305. I ordered one just for the hell of it. I've never played with an extended racquet this light before so I am interested to see how it performs. The beast is the Pure Drive Plus 2018 and the Pure Aero Plus.

It is a very good stick all the ray around. For me, the 107 has plenty of stability and solid control. I mainly play doubles and this has been one of my favorite sticks.

Yes! I like the new 107! Got one recently.
Good pocket effect and I could hit the hard balls easily.
Return and serve great.
As you said, nice for single and double.
The full view doesn't make me feel that I am holding a big head racquet.

Just picked up a Pure Drive 2018 and popped the butt cap off and it's sealed?? No way to access inside the handle besides taking the entire butt cap off? If I remember correctly the last Pure Aero I checked 2017ish I was able to pop off the back and see inside the handle. Anyone else's Pure Drive sealed like this? Peel off the Babolat plate and you'll see what I mean.

I have 2018/19 PD plus and I can pop off the trap door and access the inside of the handle if that’s what you’re referring to?

Probably a fake one.

If it is brand new one, it is probably a fake.

Genuine Babolat racquets normally have a trap door in the butt cap. You can remove the trap door and see inside the handle. If it is hollow and you can see the staples for the plastic sheath that forms the handle then you are likely to have a genuine racquet.
