What is pokemon ? Can someone explain to a grown-up ?
you travel around throwing balls at animals and then you keep the animals as your personal c0ckfighters to beat up small children randomly loitering on pathways in the middle of nowhere and sometimes the professor is watching you when you take out your bike in the wrong place and always remember to put on repel when going through the caves.. didn't want a zubat the last 15 times, don't want one now

Sounds fun.

Why don't you want a zubat ? Is it a racist thing ?

I haven't played since someone stole my game boy color, when I was really into Red/Yellow/Blue. Seems like it's huge right now, but I feel I'd be lost and wouldn't know what to do at all if I tried to get into Pokemon Go. Or am I wrong?

Oh sorry, I forgot. You guys are all way too mature for stuff like Pokemon and prefer adult pastimes such as moaning about how unfair the world is and constant poor trolling and butthurt in GPPD.
Sorry I asked.
Haha. Imma get Pokemon Sun went it comes out in 4 months time. Been playing since the original Red/Blue/Yellow, and have played through all gens. I always think I'm going to stop, but they seem to suck me back into it, lol.

Yeah, I know that feeling. I was addicted as a kid with the first two generations. I would carry my gameboy everywhere and would play as often as I could. The later generations didn't really interest me as much though, but were still pretty good. I was like you; I never thought I was going to lose interest but I eventually did. I stopped completely after Gen 5; I still have no idea what Gen 6 is like.

Yeah, same here. So addicted, it was pretty much the only game I ever played until about 16 when I finally got another console (PS3). I had a PS2, and would play the classics like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, etc, every now and then, but it was always Pokemon. In order of enjoyment it would go, Gen 4, Gen 2, Gen 3, Gen 1, Gen 6, Gen 5.

For me I would say Gen 2, Gen 4, Gen 1, Gen 5, and then Gen 3. I only rank Gen 4 so high because it included a remake of Gold&Silver, my favorite of the series. :) Diamond, Pearl and Platinum themselves weren't too bad though.

Gen 3 and 4 were around when my interest in the games were at it's peak. Learned more about the nitty gritty stuff, and didn't just play through the games willy nilly like I did in Gen 1 and 2. So many things I didn't know back in those first two gens, lol. Pokemon. It's serious business.

Gen 4 especially, because they introduced chaining. I like those shinies.

FartfacE's only toy is a life-sized Dimitrov doll whose resale value is pretty much nil.

Wasn't a fan of the last gen (too many Pokemon thrown at you) so hopefully this next game is a bit harder in that regard.

What? Too many? Last gen had the least amount of pokemon so far. I was slightly disappointed when I found out. The games are getting easier and easier though, which I dislike also. I suppose it's because there are so many new players playing this game, and kids trying out their 1st pokemon game. Sucks for old fans, but there it is.

Yep. I haven't had the urge to download a game on my mobile in a very long time until Pokemon Go came out.

F***ing Zubats are still everywhere though. Is Perth a cave or something?
I've been finding them in my local shopping centre.

No, like Pokemon thrown at you. Like given/offered during the game.. two sets of Starters was unappealing to me tbh.

This was all over my Google news page today...wtf? Some publicist is working OT on this one.

Nothing to do with a publicist....It passed Tinder, Twitter, Candy Crush, Instagram, and others I've forgotten in users already. Pretty much a cultural phenomenon.

I'm playing, you should see the number of people walking around Nike campus playing. It's unreal. Haven't played a Pokemon game since yellow/blue/red, but I couldn't pass up on this one.

lol, my 2 kids 8,10 play Pokemon go on my phones (work, personal).

they are level 10+

it actually makes walking vacations (eg visiting big cities) so much more enjoyable because there is incentive (in game) to keep moving and visiting landmarks.

everywhere we looked kids but more young adults were playing the game.

funny to see a grown adult (20 somethings, married couples, etc,...) playing the same game my kids are, comparing pokemons caught, highest level, etc,...

Hearing a few reports about people getting hit by cars, while not paying attention, instead eyes locked onto their phone. And some of them even had the nerve to blame it on the app! LOL, how about you watch where the **** you are going? The app even comes with a warning on the loading screen. Not that I'd know....

My favorite Pokeman Go story so far is of the scumbags in St. Louis using it to lure the childish adults playing this stupid game into a trap and robbing them! Serves you right, now grow the hell up..LMAO.

it's actually an interesting way to explore your city,... "pokestops" are almost always somewhere interesting....

"poke gyms" are usually extra special places where it's interesting (eg national monument or similarly interesting social spot).

it's fun to run into other folks young and old, also playing the game.

don't knock til you try it. I'd rather have folks playing an innocuous game, getting exercise, learning about the town history, and meeting new folks rather than <fill in negative activity>
