Nole not well???

Now I don’t know if it’s Covid related or not(I have no interest in making this about vaccines or the virus as I couldn’t care less). But, I’ve noticed since somewhere around mid 2020 Novak really hasn’t looked healthy despite tremendous success.
looks like there’s something going on(internally)
He seems affected by whatever it is several times during every match since that time.
Anyone else noticed this?

Nah. I see him as a fit soon to be 36 year old man. He‘s still an incredible player and athelete.
He’s not 26 anymore and he lost two years to Covid. Now he faces more competetion than in the last 10 years with Rune, Alcarez and Sinner, but Nole has still got a few good tournaments in him.

I’m not saying he’s not playing well or won’t continue to play well. I’m saying that it seems like something is going on internally and he’s still playing well in spite of it.

Watching him shaking almost to the point of convulsing during a changeover was very odd to say the least. I get the sense he is really pushing the ragged edge to stay on top.
Exactly. He’s wobbly. Looks like he can’t get oxygen. Constantly shaking out arms and legs. And just looks uncomfortable at times.

After his return to the tour in 2022 it did seem that there has been a stream of instances where he was not well on the court. Things like tears or muscle tweak I'd attribute to age, but the shaking, dizzy spells do feel more concerning. I wonder if the stress of the Aus situation might've messed up his health.

Maybe visiting Bosnian piramids wasnt a smart choice. American air force used depleted uranium munition in the Bosnian war. Who knows how much radiation is left out there + Novak visited Bosnia several times and their mines.

I don't think it's possible to be #1 at something without being healthy.

Actually to be #1 at something probably increases your chances of not being healthy.
You might have to give up certain aspects of health to put all your focus into your goal.
Two easy examples would be long distance runners vs. heavyweight olympic lifters.
To be at the extremes the unhealthy low body weight vs the unhealthy heavy bodyweight to meet the sports needs.

Fortunately, tennis is a more balance sport, so you don't have to give up as much of your physical health to achieve success outside of the high volume of pounding on your body. Which can take its toll over time.

Even outside of physical, to be #1 can have some mental and social costs.
Jordan's pursual of winning was partially due to his will to win and not accept anything but perfection. But such a drive to be the best and only feel sucess by winning took him towards gambling and gave him a tough exterior.

I might argue the mental pressure and the fact that Djoker does stay so lean, might behind some of the odd things we see on court at times from him. He clearly is dedicated.

I honestly worry about Novak in the future. Just how ''high on his own supply'' is he with his semi-delusional belief about the body''s ''natural power to heal itself''?

I'm worried he'll turn into another Steve Jobs if - God forbid - he's confronted with a major, life-threatening health concern.

I like how Sinner is grouped with Alcaraz only because he matches up with him so well. Other than that he's so far behind him, behind even Rune maybe.

Rune is not far away from Alcaraz. Rune has better technique, great feel and excellent construction of the game. He lack some strengh and sometimes loses his “mind-zone“.

Alcarez was taken from the juniors ranks at 16 and got to play with the best in the world. Rune stayed a junior two years longer.
The difference is really not big between them.

I agree Sinner is not at the same level as the two others but he‘s next in line.

We'll see, but I doubt Djokovic has much time left in tennis, and certainly no more slam titles left in him.
