No disrespect intended, but I have read better opinion editorials in the school paper, when I was in highschool. That is blogosphere quality journalism. As in not journalism at all. As per my earlier comment, I am now sure that it was both.

Simon Hattenstone is a Guardian staff journalist. I know, you couldn't make it up.

It's not just the redtops though. Check out this pearl of "journalism" by Simon Hattenstone of the 'quality' newspaper: The Guardian.

That doesn't really surprise me. I believe those are called "opinion" pieces, where the journalist deliberately goes out to get a reaction.

I've seen countless ones done about the team I support, people in the media condone them because they say it sells papers and gets readers talking. Personally I think going out to antagonise a section of the public is the lowest form of media possible, but there you go. I suppose it's the journalistic equivelant of these X Factor wannabe's, who crave their 10 minutes of notoriety, even if the journalist gets to be remembered for writing rubbish content. There's no such thing as bad publicity, they say.
