Cvac will still win the tournament, Cvac fans. Calm down and stop crapping your pants over him losing one freaking set. Lol.

Clarky always makes my day lol. SOG to crush Gasquet and give him confidence. Matosevic to pull the upset?

In the 1st set Djoko was mishitting a lot and DFing (he DFed the break away). Nothing to do with Istomin GOATing. Not sure he can survive Gasquet now. He's gonna be dead tired tomorrow. Bummer. I was really looking forward to that Rafanole semi. They're playing with me! I thought I would get a Rafanole in IW, in Rome, in W. Come on guys, don't play hard to get now ;)

Ah, well I didn't see any of that. In the 3rd they both seemed to be playing fairly clean tennis, and I think it was Novak's return game that finally won it for him. Hopefully Rafa/Nole are saving another epic match for the US Open - though I wouldn't mind one or two sneak peeks the coming weeks as well.

In the first set Istomin *was* playing awesome, hitting clean winners from everywhere in the court, serving amazing (Nole couldn't return a LOT of balls), and redirecting the ball straight down the line off both wings at will.

You know Cvac is going to beat the tar out of Richie, and I would definitely give Matosevic a great chance at beating Nadal tomorrow. Nadal is in sad shape while Cvac is playing well. Cvac will win the title like he always does.

Wow we really didn't see the same match. Sure, Istomin hit a few good ones down the line but Djoko was playing terrible, missing left and right.

Istomin played well , His pace for serving and returning was very fast and this strategy worked thru the first set into the 2nd set when Djokovic broke serve and held for 6-4, Djokovic missed by inches on several shots, the decider happened in 30-0 when djokovic hit backhand extreme cross court angle, Istomin challenged, in by an inch,,40-0, then 40-15, then finished the match with an ace,,Istomin would not go away in this match,,R8-round of 8 for Djokovic, Great mental win and come back for Djokovic,,I would not count the other players out,Djokovic needs to up his game,,the others will be upping theres. As too the announcers, they need to get a life,,they were bouncing around prepping words for Djokovic loss, they were like stock brokers buying long and selling short to prevent a loss on them. Federer may buy pizza for ball boys and girls,,Djokovic dances with them in his wig.

A lot of those misses were forced errors because of Istomin's great play.
I didn't think so, not at the beginning. Of course toward the end of the set Istomin started to become more confident.
ETA: the stats agree with me too: 7 winners for 14 UEs in the 1st set for Djoko, that's about as bad as it gets by his standards. Istomin also had more UEs than winners. Not a pretty set.

Well, yeah, to be honest Djoko raised his level after the 1st and the quality improved . Then again Istomin is not Gulbis...

Good hard fought win for Novak. he played terrible 1st set while Istomin was playing great tennis.

Anyway, I think he got enough warmup matches n Montreal. It is time to tank the match against Gasquet, pack his bags and seriously prepare to win Cincy and USO.

I was walking around the practice courts a few days ago when I saw Davydenko practicing with this kid with weird looking glasses. I had seen him before but could not remember his name and had to check the board on the fence. It was Istomin. What caught my attention was the intensity of the practice and how incredibly well Istomin was playing. I watched them practice until they finished. It was impressive. So before yesterday's match, I thought we might be in for some great tennis if Istomin was as hot as during that practice session. And so it was. It was a great match. In the first set Djokovic was probably a bit stunned by the way Istomin was playing, he wasn't expecting that, and then he had to play some of his best tennis himself to beat him. I think Istomin could have beaten anyone last night.

Istomin is very fast and very flexible. Complete player too but his problem is mental, scared to win big matches.
