Hey folks,
It's been a long time since my last post here...Anyway with a little more time on my hands now, I hope I'm back for good
Seeing some talks about individual seasons reminded me of some stats I gathered a while ago on this theme.
I computed 'ranking points' for all the main players in the Open Era, for all their career. Some 'disclaimers':
-the source is the ATP official website data. You guys know that this is far from perfect or complete prior to 1990.
-at the time I (foolishly) used the ATP rankings points system (as of 2007) to compute these points, though now I would strongly favor a "1000-500-250" system rather than their "1000-700-450".
-you might wonder how I adapted the 2007 system to the years before 1990 as there was no 'Super 9'. I actually used as a Super 9 my list of 'Masters Series' for 1973-1989 (as discussed in very old posts elsewhere on the forum).
-I used mostly initials instead of names in my file, but I think that most of you will be able to do the math and know who they're referring to
Anyway, with all these caveats, this is far from a perfect list and I'm not extremely satisfied with it, but that's what I have at the moment and I thought it might be of interest to some of you...
Here is what I ended up with:
