Opponents unable to keep up with Djokovic in deciding sets

.. both physically and mentally. And that if they are able to take the match that far. Murray today at Miami was completely gassed in the third. So was Stan Wawrinka at the Australian open. Federer stayed with him physically at IW 2015, but was unable to prevent Djokovic from running away with the decider 6-2.
You have to say that Djokovic is able to find an extra gear and keeps his level higher than his oppponents, and make fewer errors. His defense really comes to the forefront in these situations.

Today he was not anything great, but the hallmark of an intelligent player is to realize that. He played safe and error free tennis once he started seeing Murray spray errors. He knew that was enough for him to cross the finish line.

He has fantastic defense, hits the ball deep , even though he does not go for the corners and gets all the balls back , even when absolutely tired. He gets rewarded.

Yeah sure. Quite shocking how every other player can't keep up physically with the Djoker...save for Nadal in the past. :?

Prior to his surgery, Murray too could keep pace with Djokovic physically. But in every match he has played him since his surgery, it is abundantly clear that he can no longer do this.

But why???

But why???

Well, I'm guessing it's a physical thing. His serve certainly seems to have become more erratic and he takes longer now to put the ball into play. The operation may have relieved his back pain but it may also have made it more difficult to maintain his stamina.

It's just my guess and I could be completely wrong. But without a physical explanation it's not obvious to me either what the problem might be!
