Ostapenko the Highlight of the Tournament for Me

Ostapenko can be so good when she zones; her groundstrokes are amazing. A Keys vs Ostapenko final would be fun just to see the brutal mistreatment the balls would be subjected to. They both probably lose their next match though having both got hot against a top seed.

She is the type just like Rublev.. they will jack you in the jib and then smile at you..
I love players who simply throw hay makers at you until you drop... sort of like me...

Oh Ive been keeping my eye on her for a while.... VERY crytical of her physical state but to her credit shes lookin way fitter now.... she has shed a lot of weight so it shows shes been working to get back to the top.

One of the cleanest ball strikers on tour shes actually scary when shes on, like yesterday. Made Iga look like a scared deer (she was lucky not to get handed a bagel herself).

Jelena is not showing any fear or pity for herself or opponents, shes a strong willed character, sometimes even pedantic but hey.... that fire of hers actually is appealing at least for me.

Clown dresses and all she is a real talent. And if shes able to hang around top 10 or top 5, WTA is gonna get even more interesting.

(I LOVE Iga, but yesterday she got her behind handed to her,...)

What part of her game could improve in your opinion?

Highlight and the lowlight, but that's Ostapenko. Capable of beating anyone on her day, but slams don't last a day, which is why she hasn't won more than one and is regularly ranked around the top 20.

Iga?
1. Serve: its actually improving. Flat 1st serve needs to be consistent, for more free points. 2nd serve is short when shes tight, sometimes just sits up for big hitters.
2. Slice: if she can develop it to use it more regularly to mix things up and keep opponents guessing ir would bring her game to another level (her patterns are predictable at times)
3. Dropshot: shes using it more every time, definitely a great secret weapon to have.
4. Volleys: DEFINITELY needs improvement, have more confidence to go fwd after a great shot from the baseline (she still hesitates sometimes from following her shots to the net).

Watching her vs. Iga was impressive. When her game is on it seems unstoppable. But others noted, it is hard to do that for several matches in a row.
Love her confidence but can hate her arrogance.

I think Iga just played into Ostapenko's game and gave her pace and kept her in a rhythm. Really should have tried to mix it up and not try to go toe to toe with her, especially when Ostapenko was on like that.

Might have been one of the best relative performances in the USO this year.

Honestly I don’t really care for Ostapenko or her game but was thrilled to see her beat that stupid hag Iga.
