Tbh Novak has a pretty favourable draw up until the semis unless Fed turns back the clock somehow

Nadal might get tested in the R16/QF but he shouldn't be in danger of losing.

Thiem's draw has early exit written all over it when you combine his recent form as well and I consider myself a fan of Dom's

Stefanos has a pretty favourable draw too considering he'll probably get someone who is low ranked in the quarters being in Med's quarter

Zverev has a decent draw as well but we all know how shaky he can be in BO5

Lets see how many of these guys atually make it. Lets see how the tournament unfolds, lets see if Novak makes it semi fresh. Novak must be fresh or we won't get 5 setter.

Novak won't make it to Semis if Rafa is there!!!

Thiems’s draw looks like the worst of all.

Well Rg organizers have gambled to have a slam half devoid of big 3 , will these next gen ir thiem even make it to the final or we could have a really weak finalist or something like Garin, carreno busta

Nadal's quarter is not the toughest, but it doesn't matter, as he has Djokovic in the semifinals. Djokovic's path is 250 level though...Belgrade level draw.

Upon inspecting the draw, there's a small but not too small chance that Ruud makes the finals. This will happen if the trio of Thiem, Zverev, and Tsitsipas aren't at their best which isn't all that unlikely ...

Thanks! I've been doing this the last couple years but recently my threads have been deleted because there's already a draw discussion thread  .

Hope this one survives, it's a good thing to have.

Yes, I have Ruud vs. Tsitsipas in the semis.

Ruud in the 4R scares me. If he does get through Ruud, Zverev, and Tsitsipas though, he'd in better shape than ever form-wise to take on Rafa.

On paper Rafa is certainly going to be made to work for it if he wants to break that record! Popyrin couple of nice wins on clay this season, Gaston the hero of last years tournament (though you'd imagine his fortunes would be pretty different in summery conditions when you can hit more through the court), then from there on it's pretty self explanatory - Sonego, Sinner, Rublev, Djokovic, Tsitsipas/Zverev would have been a good answer in one of those What's the Toughest Draw You Can Come Up With For Rafa At Roland Garros threads.

Form he's in, he'd do well to get past Fognini/Fucsovics, forget about what comes after!

Thiem actually has the nicest draw for him I think ever. Fognini/Ruud is not the test you guys make it out to be then Zverev maybe and an easier SF than other half.

Tsitsipas In terms of form looks like a likely finalist though. Putting a bill on that actually.

Who is going to take a set from Nadal?
Sinner is 0-5 in sets vs. Nadal.
Sonego just lost to Korda!
Rublev needed Nadal to serve 7 double-faults including 2 on break points (in the first clay event of the season when Nadal was rusty)........and Nadal crushed Rublev at London last year.
Zverev could only beat Nadal at Madrid, and couldn't win a set at Rome.......and Zverev is 0-9 vs. Top 10 players at Slams!
Tstisipas almost lost in straight sets to Nadal at the AO, and was down championship points in the 2nd Set at Barcelona before losing in 3.
So looks like a replay of 2020 RG....

I didn't suggest anyone was going to beat him, just if you want to make it tough then you couldn't do much more than give him a draw like this.

But I wasn't talking about beating Nadal, I said "take a set".
I don't see the toughness, because it will be very hard for those guys to take a set from Nadal.
And Djokovic will find it even harder this year than 2020 RG........if the roof is open this year and sunshine.

Well, what a question :-D I mean since 2017 he's only dropped 3 sets. To Diego, Goffin, and Thiem. Even the Diego one is a little sketchy given it was weather reliant. Plenty of these guys are at least as good on clay as Goffin is, so I wouldn't write them off.

Nadal bagelled Djokovic in 2 of their last 3 meetings on clay.
So based on their last 3 meetings, there is a 66.7% chance of Nadal winning a bagel over Djokovic here.
Or I guess you add up the number of sets they played, 3 sets at Rome 2019........3 sets at RG 2020........3 sets at Rome 2021........so that's 2 bagels out of 9 sets = 22.2%.

No he wouldn’t he would be completely drained and put up a dud like he did in 2019 eating 2 breadsticks.
And Nadal will have already beaten Sinner, Rublev and Djokovic, so it will be hard for Thiem to make an impression on a very in-form Nadal.
