player issue tennis clothing

Hi. I'm just if anyone knows if there is such a thing as player issue tennis clothing? For example, in football (I mean soccer) the shirts you buy in a shop are different to the ones that the actual teams and players get. Adidas have the formotion technology on their player shirts and Nike have something called Code 7 which is meant to be the best of their stuff. Does tennis clothing get the same treatment?

Clothes is just clothes. I guest the pro team just requested the "Formotion Technology" or its test out before selling it or for pro only. But in tennis i dont think its like that cause what you see on pro is what you get.

I've heard it does. I don't have any evidence, but yes I've heard the Pro's get different things to us.

i dont believe the players get differenct things to us, or else it owuld surely be called replica tennis wear and its expensive enough as it is, and its good, the pros probably dont care what they are wearing. You can buy those special football (soccer) shirts but they are about £80 ($160), can you imagine paying that for a football shirt, never mind a tennis shirt if they made specal pro ones.

I am 100% sure pros get different shoes compared to whats on offer to the public. They may look the same from far away but they are completely custom moulded to the pro's foot and often have engravings on them such as Rafa's 'Bull' or Rogers 4 Wimbledon trophys. A pro can also a get a custom outsole and have their shoes made from synthetic or leather depending on what they choose.

With regards to clothes, what has been said about football is very true. However with tennis I very much doubt it. If it exists at all I would say it does with Nike or Adidas. But if you take a cotton Lacoste polo for example, there is not much you can do it enhance that for a pro.

Mind you, I am pretty sure Federer doesn't just pick a Medium or a Large depending on the fit. Most likely all top 20 tennis players have the clothes measured to their body to obtain an absolutely perfect fit......

i remember watching a bit on tiger woods' clothing. he has it specially made for him by nike. so that it doesn't pull and tug at him while swinging. but the materials were the same as you could buy at the store. i'm sure tennis players are no different.

Yes there is and Lacoste is the easiest example, Lacoste sell the "pro issue" kit it's just basically a much larger croc. and Lacoste stitching or patch on the shoulder and back of the neck, If my tops aren't already packed away I can take pics to show you

I don't think any of today's players get clothes measured for a perfect fit.

This is not a perfect fit.

If the top players all get measured for their tennis clothes, then the tailor who measures Roddick must be drunk each & every time Lacoste comes out w/a new line for him.

Federer has his shoes designed especially for him. As far as the clothes go I have been to quite a few pro tournaments and I can tell you that I am 100 percent sure that what we buy as consumers is the same thing that the pros wear. I was standing about 3 feet away from Lleyton Hewitt and Carlos Moya and Tim Henman. The clothes that they had on was the same thing I could be at TW. The colors are different because they get all the new clothes earlier than we can.

this is true. but you can have the same treatment done for you at the adidas website or the adidas store in manhattan. They will make Baracades that are custom to your feet's shape.

100% Pro's get different clothing & most top players have what are called "model Shop" shoes that are custom made for them, Fila for one supply all their Pro Players with made in US or Italy clothing, not the made in Vietnam stuff.

As far as I know, the tennis clothing is slightly different to that whichcan be bought in stores. In the past and now, as some of you probably know, the badges/logos are bigger on the pros shirts as opposed to that of the regular consumer.

The old Sampras Nike logo is a prime example i have a tennis shirt with the correct logo and will post pics of this and a Sampras tennis shirt...in addition on the same issue, do you remember when Sampras used to have the Swoosh and Nike badge switched? Again, that was only given to Nike sponsored players.

Also just a silly comment to make, there is a restriction to the size of the logos allowed to be published which is why Adidas' customary 3 stripe has been reduced in size...hope this helps.

Some of it depends on brands. Of course pros can get anything they want. Most of the time it's the same stuff anyone else can get. I have a shirt that Pete Sampras wore during one of his matches and it's the exact same kind anyone of us can get. The biggest name brands, at least clothing wise, is no different for the pros.

There is a difference between pro football and retail football shirts, which is highlighted by the fact they are replica shirts. By comparison, the tennis clothing is not purported to be replica. Also, at the tennis shop I commonly use, some lowly ranked British players pick up their clothing from this shop, and its the same as the stuff that anyone can buy.

Yes, sometimes the logos are bigger on some of the clothes the pros wear so they will show up better on TV, in magazines, etc. but they are the same clothes.

wow. it's spelled futbol. but i think we get the same clothes like the pros. otherwise. why would it be $60-65 dollars for a shirt that fed or nadal wears. hahaha.
