Playing in the heat / asthma / covid vaccine

As a prelude
Let's discuss:
1. asthma and playing outdoors in heat index
2. playing outdoors in heat index, for folks without asthma, is it horrible for you as well?
2. vaccination and impact on asthma folks/athletes

--

I am 46 in the body of what would appear to be a fit/slim 35 year old?
5'8 140 lbs, I'm lean, not a big frame
non smoker. 30" waist since high school
asthma all my life. 63% lung capacity normally.
typically play all out, aggressive style, 4.0/4.5 tennis, never have had any issues with stamina.
play 5-10x a week. NO issues in the winter indoors or spring outdoors, until.....

.....getting the 2nd vaccine, Pfizer, in April.
playing indoors rest of the month, in good conditions.
I really feel like my lung capacity became a lot worse than normal.
then....

....summer arrived
no change, I had been ok, but not 100% as I was before the vaccines.
then heat index arrives here in Philly.
I'm playing in 90 degree sun/heat this week, with heat index of 95-100
playing 10am through 3pm, high sun - not smart, but the main times I can play.

It's been horrible. I miss the spring.
I hit some drills and feel ok, not great. then I start playing sets and by then, I'm feeling like poop.
I have to really conserve energy when I can. And I can't go very long - at a high level. I'm so sad about this.

I get in the car and realize that my face is read, not from the sun, my system is mad at me..
Is it primarily the asthma, I guess? My system must be working very hard in normal conditions, with only 63% lung capacity.
Maybe these conditions are not good for me and I should stay indoors when it's this bad?

Also vaccinated. Also in your area. Also had exercise induced asthma as a kid

I don’t think I’ve had any noticeable difference in stamina since getting vaccinated in February

But it’s been 90 with high humidity for the past week. Playing in the heat of the day is going to be hard on anyone. I jumped rope outside over the weekend and yesterday and felt like death

Do you have allergies? Mine have been pretty bad lately. That can also play a role. I don’t know if anyone could definitively prove to you that the vaccine had no impact on your lung capacity, but I’d think it would be preferable over the effects of COVID

I really appreciate you replying, neighbor!

I am on Dupixent, which is awesome for asthma and allergies! I'm going into my fourth year on it. Highly recommend. I am not taking any other drugs at all. I was happy to get away from steroids. Perhaps the vaccine is making the Dupixent less effective, OR my system is slowly saying that Dupixent - you shall not work as well anymore!!!

where are you?

It would be interesting to know what your O2 sats are when you feel bad and your face reddens. I would bet you are pretty low. Get a monitor on Amazon.

I have the new Apple Watch. Would that have anything on there that could help?

apple data says 83-100% blood oxygen range over the past week. I play Monday to Friday 1-2x a day.

Ok I think I’ll let my watch test me when I’m playing later today.
But the above is likely a false alarm.
Checked the app again in another way.
That critically low measurement was taken at 8pm when I wasn’t exercising. May be a false reading.

Man, 83 is really low, but I bet it is an error. If it was that low during play, you would be in distress since your body is constantly suffering from hypoxia. Getting as low as 92 during play isn't bad. I'm not a healthcare provider ... just a person with a similar experience.

I don't have an Apple watch, but if you can have it record just match data, that would be interesting to see, especially if you can take note of particularly taxing points where you weren't feeling good (winded). Might be good to bring a notepad and just jot down some times and notes on how you are feeling so you can look at the data and map it to your notes. Sounds nerdy, but it is interesting and helpful.

I honestly think your face reddens just because you are exhausted from the heat and humidity. As yossarian said, heat affects everyone. Your blood vessels are widening to try to get rid of heat so you will look red from that.

I think that 83 is an error. I was likely just doing light chores in the house.

whereas I see 90-95 for the rest of the week - at worst. And I played 8-10x in heat index!

You should see a doctor if it’s 83%. O2 sat being that low is not good, if it is indeed that low.

In regards to lung capacity, what this vaccine does is make your body generate Covid spike proteins which your body identifies and attacks. It’s possible your lungs are being attacked by your own body.

New Study Published by the American Heart Association (AHA) Proves The Spike Protein Alone Causes Lung Damage & Arterial Destruction in Lab Animals

They also demonstrated The Cure: “was rescued by treatment with N-acetyl-L-cysteine,” which is an Amino Acid found in Turkey, Yogurt, Legumes, and Sunflower Seeds.

Researchers created a “pseudovirus” that was surrounded by the classic crown of spike proteins from Sars-Cov-2, but that did not contain an actual virus.

This pseudovirus (only spike proteins - like what the vaccine programs your cells to produce) caused damage to the lungs and arteries of the Hamsters in the experiment, but administering the common amino acid N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC), the Hamsters were rescued from certain death.

This proves that the spike protein alone is enough to trigger the disease, according to the researchers - and everyone who got the vaccine has their own cells producing this spike protein - in an attempt to trigger your body to produce antibodies.

The antibodies - which are also produced by exposure to the natural virus - protect you from the negative effects of the spike proteins - as does the amino acid.

The vaccine causes more damage than the virus, because there is no known immunity to their mRNA and DNA injections that reprogram your cells. The only “rescue” is the amino acid NAC - which is an unregulated supplement you can buy at the vitamin store.

that's a fair level for exercise. is your o2 sat at resting still mid 90s? Mine is usually around ~99%

hehe I got this thing back in like March 2020 as part of my coronavirus prepping

yea seems ok for tennis in the sun

I'm currently at 98% currently sitting at my desk, a few mins after walking about a mile.

I'm still going to get a checkup this month, when I can.

thx for all the ideas and concerns and comments, y'all!

love this family here
