Playtest Lux 4g vs ALU Rough

Comparison of these strings. Both from reels and both 16L.
Strung on my Alpha tabletop crank machine.
Frame:
Wilson 2014 6.1, 16 x 18 with leather grips. 13oz strung.
Tension:
52 x 50

I won't get into how long the strings perform because most polys only give the best results within the first 4 hours. If they last longer, great but I don't find poly performance past 4 hours really worth discussing unless we are talking about long lasting poly.

All statements below are my opinion and in my experience with 2 exact frames with the above specs and may not jive with what you think.....

Groundstrokes:
ALU rough had more pop/power but had a kinda loose wire feel to it compared to 4G. 4G had a very solid control/grip on the ball that was very different...kinda of like Solinco Tour Bite but better. Very controlled and very grippy on the ball. On 4G it felt like the ball never slipped across the strings like ALU did at some times.

Serves:
More grip on topspin serves with 4G. More power with ALU.

Volleys:
More of the same...more power with ALU more control with 4G. Actually kinda loose volleys with ALU... Compared to 4G volleys on ALU felt like a multi..

Feel: About the same. Heck I'd give it to 4G because of the control.

Stringing: AlU pulls more on the machine than 4G. That was very evident from the get go. I've been using 4G for a while and was surprised at the pull length of ALU since I hadn't strung it up for a while.

Which one has more spin? Its 4G in my opinion. Its more controlled power and spin in a different type of string. 4G is a pretty darn good string.

Lux offers very low discounts on reels compared to the sets which is pretty lame but 4G is very good in my opinion.
btw..NTRP 4.5 player...

Let me hear you opinion on these strings.

Good strings for 2 hours if they weren't so expensive.

I disagree with 4G. I'm not a fan, but it maintains its original playability very well for a poly. Also, if you use the pre-stretch function ALU tension loss isn't that bad.

IMO, it(4G) maintains the tension but not the performance. Gets lame just like any other high performance poly but tries to trick you by staying tight.....Once you realize that, you find power is down by 30 percent.

String up two frames. Play 4 hours with one then switch to the fresh one.....Same old poly story...fresh one is much better. Regardless, I still like this string very much. Favorite Poly out there.
