Please help me with an alternative string setup - Pure Storm Tour

i usually use 17 gauge gut mains and either luxilon ace crosses or pro hurricane tour crosses in my rackets (dunlops MW200 and fischer mspeed) it lasts a decent amount of time and i love the feel and playability of this setup.

im a moderate topspin guy but since i started playing with my new babolat pure storm tours they have been eating through these setups. im a bit leery about using a full poly job and i dont think i want to use poly mains and gut crosses since you are basically wasting the gut feel in that setup.

any recommendations for either a soft poly job or some other setup with a nice combo of poly and something else that will last a while??

a decent soft poly like cyberflash or sppp would be great in the mains. the crosses, go for a synthetic gut like gosen og sheep. personally, i'v tried cyberflash/gosen and it was too soft for me, so i swapped the cyberflash with spinfire and it feels and plays great now. no-one seems to like spinfire though.
any of these combinations would be cheaper and last longer than your current stringjob, and play pretty well too.

I have just started using Cyber Power mains, LaserFibre Laser Tour crosses in my MicroGel radical, and it feels great, very soft compared to SPPP, but still crisp for my extreme topspin and slice. I am using 17 ga, but will probably go to 16 ga next time. Can't say much about durability yet. I had Silverstring mains, PSG x's, and tried all silverstring previously, and this Cyber Power feels much less harsh.

i string mine with pacific poly x force 18 on the mains and pacific powerline 17L on the crosses @ 53lbs. It is a nice setup, easy on the arms with nice feel and very durable.

I use a full job of Cyber Flash on mine at 57 lbs.

I am going to try and mix it up with some Prince synthetic gut on the next string job to try and get some more crispness/feel. I may try the PSGD on the mains, I haven't decided yet.

It plays great with the Cyber Flash, but I think the frame feels too soft and even "mushy" with that setup.

HeadPrestige, I am interested in what your setup plays like. 53 lbs is fairly low for a racket like this, I might have to try that, too...

What tension are you all using?

I am really enjoying this racket and its softer feel, but I still can't decide if I am playing as well with it as I did with the previous Pure Control.

have been using 18g kevlar/laserfibre tour 17 @63lbs
which feels pretty good

tried kirsch comp 1.20 but have to agree it feels mushy in this frame
gonna try lux ace next
i also got some msv hex in 1.10, will test that too......

I hit with the plus for the 1st time today. I much preferred it to the std length wihich really surprised me. Mine was strung with Bab attraction at 60 which is not my usual setup, but very nice.

Bottle rocket: is the cyberflash a soft string in general? I've got a pack to try and was curious about tension. I usually string poly at 55 or 56 and wanted to know if I need to string the CF any tighter since it could be softer?

I think it is. Nobody who has ever hit with one of my frames has commented that the strings feel stiff, many actually think it feels soft, maybe even mushy.

I would string it a little bit tighter... I used to string Luxilon ALU between 52 and 54 on these Babolats. Now I go 57-58 with the Cyber Flash. It is also possible my taste has changed, but definitely try it a little bit tighter.

I am really comfortable with my Cyber Flash setup. I am sure there is something better out there, but the price and comfort level has made me stick with it. I am on my second reel.

I had the same experience when I switched to the Plus version, I can't find a downside. I sold off all my standard length PC's and now just have the PST+ and a PC+.
