Question for Robkat

Robkat,

Thanks for the pic. I notice you use the 27.25 and 100" headsize. I just received a vantage demo built to my specs (or what i thought i would like)...at 27.25 and 95" headsize. Although i really like the feel of the demo, I think i'm spoiled by the power my current racket provides (pure drive). Based on your expereince, do you think that the 100" head size (along with the extra 1mm width in beam size" makes a difference in power?

I'm not an expert but I wouldn't think the 1mm difference makes that much difference. My first hit with a Vantage frame was with a 95Sq", 27",18X20 frame that I bought off the boards about a year and 1/2 ago. I did not like it very much and wasn't able to generate the power I wanted. I have had these two frames since SEPT 2005 and have enjoyed them very much. The 100 sq" head size and the 16X19 string pattern allow me to generate suffcient power. The 16X19 string pattern is very open which allows me to generate very good topspin and slice. I'm very satified with the amount of power that is generated by these frames. String tensions play a big part as well. Presently these two frames are strung with Klip Legend 18 in the mains and X-one Biphase 18g in the crosses. One frame is strung at 57 in both Ms & Xs and the other is strung @57/55. The 57/55 has more power the then the other at 57. When I string fully with the Klip legend, I string at 57. When stringing with a syn gut I string at 55. The combination of these frames and the Klip Legend 18g is the best combination frame/string that I have ever played. I have experimented with ALU power in these frames, strung at 48lbs and it played NICE, good controlled power with lotsa Spin.

I would assume your demo was initially strung at 57lbs. That is what my frames were at at when I first received them.

I am from Europe and I have never heard of this brand of rackets and I don't see it on TW. Can someone please tell me more about Vantage? :confused:

Wouldn't it be fair to give those €40 to jdeloach.. :mrgreen:

Can't seem to find how thick the beam of those rackets is.. Does anyone know?

Beam thickness depends on the headsize you're choosing.

90" = 18mm beam
95" = 20mm beam
100" = 21mm beam
105" = 23mm beam

Thanks:

It all sounds really great, but I am doubtfull however, plus I don't have the money.. :(

It would want to have:

A Vantage frame:
95"
20 mm beam
18 x 20 string
63 RA rating (stiffness)
27" length
300 gr./ 10.6 oz
Balance: 325 mm 6 pts HL
Black
Gripshape: Head

Seems like a great frame to me..:shock:

That's what I make of it too, that you first have to buy one and that you can return it within 30 days. Without scratches you get a 100% refund if I'm correct. But I have no experience.

Where are they based actually? Are they based in England? Frome where do they ship?

Edit: Plus if i read correctly, you can only use the return policy if you buy one racket, multi deals are excluded I think.

the 90 is supposed to be 19mm. when i got mine (vt001 pre-made), i was expecting a 19mm straight shaft/beam. definitely felt wider than 19mm in the throat, so i measured it. i guess not particularly accurate, as i don't have calipers, but just eyeing it with a ruler, the beam/throat is about 21mm and it tapers up to 19mm at the tip of the head. i would really love it if the whole beam was 19mm. just the feeling in your hand of that width racquet is sweet (think POG mid and prestige). not gonna lie, i was a little disappointed.

Now I find that hard to swallow because i used a 90" for number of months and always thought it was 19mm... certainly the 95" is 20mm.
