Prince Beast 104 Racket 280g

I’ve played with the premier textreme 104 and really loved it and transitioned easily to it since I used a O3 Red105
I don’t really think of princes’ 104-107 range as OS sticks. They don’t play like other brands OS racquets. They take the hoop longer into an oval whereas Babolat and Wilson tend to widen and make the hoop rounder with better spin like the Blade 104 or the PD 107.

Hello,

I am looking for change my textreme 100T, and I want to choose bestween beast 100 o3 300gr and 104 o3 280 gr. My purpose is to get a stick easier to play than with my 100T (not to say that this racquet is really demanding, but I would like more ease), I would like a bigger sweetspot and more free power.

Between these both stick, could you tell me wich one will be more easy to moove (maneuvrability is for me a big part when we talk about easy stick) and more easier to play ? The 104 seems to be good for me, but despite it is lighter i am a little worried about the more head heavy balance, so wich one will tiresome ?

Thanks a lot.

I honestly think none of those 2 should bother you. Both should have generous sweetspot. I think it'll come down to control and stability.

Thank you for your help, but which one will be more maneuvrable and easy to play ?
Given they both have equal strung swing weight, the next thing(s) to look for is balance and head size. More headlight would mean more maneuverable. So the 100 wins in that category.

I would go for the PRINCE 104 o3 280 grams. See below why. ;)
I have tried over the year about 14 rackets ranging from a 265 grams titanium made 106 sqin Babolat, to Wlison Blade 98 16x19 - amplifeel , and a pure strike 98 with unstrug weight of 320 gram. I really liked the blade for it's feel and comfort . I also tried several racquets with 100 sqin head and different weights. I can say that I learned a few things about racqets. My favorite racquet is a Wilson pro staff 97 LS because it's light, though maneuverable, has a lot of spin potential which helps me to put the whatever ball use to be long, inside the court, and it looks cool :). I customed this racket with about 6 grams of lead at 3 and 9, and it felt really nice and comfortable.

However, I am an intermediate 4-4.5 player, with not such a good technique, so I'focusing on that right now. And because i was hitting the frame very often with my PS 97LS I chose a PRINCE 104 280g (without the o3) which proved to be the right choice (at least for my level). The racket is again light though really MANEOUVERABLE, it hat a big hitting area, is comfortable, and I have a lot of access to power, even when my trainer is going on fire, and starts to hit some powerful shots against me. Moreover it really surprised me on the serve, meaning that my serve has a better accuracy and a higher speed both in first and second serve. Accuracy is not a problem. In my opinion if you want better accuracy from a racket a higher tension in the strings or even pretensioned strings should do the trick. I had no problem finding the lines when my shot was good soo I would not worry about that.
With reference to the SWEETSPOT I noticed on the Tennis Warehouse Univerty's - Racket Comparison Tool that the sweet area for the PRINCE 104 o3 280 grams is quite big, that is 16 sqin (equal to Textereme Tour 100T and bigger than Textreme Warior 100T - I do't know which one you have). However sweet zone and hitting area are not quite the same. So You should really define what you need. For example if you hit the frame really often with your 100 sqin head, you should consider a bigger frame.
All in all the 104 280 is a rally good racquet and the most I got out of it is the fact that I'm really having good fun on court ... event when I'n training.

Hope this helps! Please leave a feed-back!

So what is the strengt of the 104 ? Beacause it means that the 100 will be more stable too
As I said before, bigger head size, bigger hitting area and easier access to power. With this particular head size you really have easy access to spin too, as the string pattern is opened due to greater surface to cover.
Stability is not a problem with the 104. I hit a lot of offcenter shots and never had this problem. It might be an issue for advanced players hitting powerful shots, but that is a really large topic.

Thank a lot for your answer. I have the tour 100T, I don't touch the frame, it is very rare, but i hit lot of offcenter shots too. For me the biggest point, before the headsize, is the maneuvrability. I see that the o3 version of the 104 is even more head heavy than the regular, so i am worried about that. For me if it sure that the o3 104 is more maneuvrable and less tiresome than the o3 100 300gr, I will go with it, if it's not, I will go for the 100.

I just had a look on twu, the 104 standard version doesn't appear, it is surprising, there is only the o3 version.

The non 03 104 is not sold here in US..that's why it isn't listed..I bought mine on a trip Germany..it is very nice racket..it's plays more like a players oversize racket... like the head radical oversize..so so solid for such a light racket..

Go to the rcquet comparison tool and/or power potential tool and compare the values to get a hint ( I listed a link below) or, contact TW for a test.
As I understand from the values listed on the two tools it seems that the o3 104 is more stable than the tour 100T, but I don't realy believe that you will really feel an impressive difference.
Swingweight is almost the same (o3 has the sw 1% higher than the 100T), so I expect them to be quite similar in terms of maneuverability and fatigue towards the arm. I expect though the o3 to be a bit more precise, due to lower flexibility, and in the same time a bit more hard on the arm for the same reason. However, the flex value are 67 for the o3 and 62 for the 100T, and I don't believe that you will really feel a discomfort due to a less flexible frame unless you start hitting really powerful shots and serves. It's more likely that you will feel the improvement on the accuracy of the shot.
I don;t know your level of tennis but, in my experience, and my trainer's, for lower level tennis players(beginners or intermediate players), the fatigue is mostly generated by a bad technique, of bad physical condition, so you might want to improve these areas if it is the case. And you should see which part of you body (or arm) is getting tired.
For example, when I switched for the Beast 104, I was looking for a racket with grater comfort. I spoke with my trainer about a Txtreme 100T and he said that it would not be such big difference against my PS97. So I went for the beast 104 because it is lighter and with a much bigger headsize. Being lighter helps me improve my shot speed and technique as it is more maneuverable, and the bigger headsize helps me hit the frame less times. Of couse having a bigger headsize and a head heavy racquet lets me focus on my technique without the concern of power.
When I played with the Babolat Pure Strike 18x20 (320 g unstrug) or head prestige 600 classic (about 350 grams with string and overgrip) I could really feel that I was really slow, even though the power was not an issue for those racquets. And it was really tiresome for the arm, but not so much for the forearm. It's like now when I am fat, and I can really feel that it's really hard to move around the court :). So, to come back to your topic, if you are looking for less fatigue on the arm, a lighter racket should do the trick, but if you are looking for less stress on your forearm and you wrist, I think you should look into your technique, especially if you are an beginner or low level intermediate player (like me for example).

Hope this is helpful again!

I have the Beast in both 104 & the O3 104 plus a 100T.
There is nothing in the Beast that I find negative, as a intermediate senior player. The 100T wold be great if I swung consistently like I did 30 -35 years ago. More forgiveness and easier power as the Beast line is designed to do .

In my collection..I have beast 03 104..beast 104..beast 03 100 and beast 100..
All are good in their own way..
I really liked the std 100...big hitting frame with plow and spin...approaching pure drive tour levels....the 03 is nice..faster, easier to swing..more spin...but ball is not as massive..
The 03 104 is unique as I found more weight of shot with it than the 03 100..not typical of a lighter frame with me..it's almost to easy to use as it corrects most errant technique..boring tennis to me..
The std 104 is a very pleasant surprise..
Very controlled...perfect power levels..spin is up there..lot of estate to work with..controlled.
It is very solid...what I really like about it is..it feels like more like the textreme 100p..has ease of use of the 100t..
Honestly...it doesn't belong in the beast line..
It should be in the tour line..
I just wish the std 104 would be 300g..which is my preferred spec range.
It would be nearly perfect then.

Btw..I am using any of these at the moment..I like to buy and try rackets..
Trade or sell and try something new.
I enjoy the hunt..

Thank you guys to helping me :)

I prefer to go with the o3 version because I want to have a biger sweetspot and fort the comfort. And if standard versions are close to tour line, it is not for me because I will not gain enough ease of play.

For those who have the 100 and 104 both in o3 version, could you just tell me wich one is the more maneuvrable (it is really my priority), the less tiresome and the more easy to use ?

With the 104 o3, is it possible to take full swing, or is it too powerful ?

STD 104 is way more manerverable..and has equal pop/power of 03 104..
O3 104 seems fat and baulky to me..

I want to win easy :) I am kiding, but I understand that compared to my textreme tour 100T (orange), if I want to get more ease and bigger sweetspot the regular 104 is the best ? If the regular is more maneuvrable than the 104 o3 (I was thinking the opposite because with o3 frame are usually more aerodynimic), it could be a better choice.

Could you compare the regular beast 104 andt the 100T ? Is maneuvrability about the same ? The différence of ease is important ?

And what about comfort (it is the reason why at first I am looking for the o3) ?

Thank you, and apologize for my english, I am not always sure to speak well but I hope it is understandable :)

I had some thought about it, I eliminate the 104 o3 because everebody seems to say that it is less maneuvrable, so I will choose between the 100 o3 and the 104 regular.

The std beast 104 and the 100T are very similar .. but the 104 is more stable, plush and has more control.. and more forgiving.. the beast 104 could easily be called the 104T..

Thank you, but between both why you chose the 104 std ? Is it more maneuvrable than the 100 o3 besides the more head heavy balance ?

its just a better racket.. any 03 rackets imo are not as predictable.. they seem to have a mind of their own at times.. not consistent... what I do like about 03 rackets is the arm friendliness..

Thank you guys, but now I think go with the 100 o3 300gr. On the paper the 104 standard looks great, but I am worried about the head heavy balance, I think that despite being heavier, the 100 o3 will be more maneuvrable because of the headlight balance (and less air resistance because of the o3).

I understand that o3 isn't great for everybody about feel, but someone talk to me that with o3 it seems that the dwell time is longer thant normal frames, and my preference is that I like when the ball stay longer (I had this feeling with frame with low sw), I am more precise with that, at the opposite with stiff and explosive frames, it is hard to me to control the ball.

If you can add weight to the handle, thus making it HL, you will increase the maneuverability.

Hello guys, after thinking, I think listen your advice and I will finally go with the 104 standard. I guess I can deal with the balance as other aspects seems perfect for what I am looking for because I need more ease to use (after tried lot of racquet these past 10 years, I understant that I always played with sticks to demanding for my level, and my progression was slow down), and with the 100 I am affraid that the gap with the tour 100t will not be enough.

Ahah I already choose :-D I choose sonic pro edge for one and babolatxcel for the second,as I play more recreative than really competition, I can change the "feeling" to choosing one stick or the other.

Can anyone tell me if there is much of a difference between the Prince Beast 104 (non-03 version),
and the Prince Beast 03 104 (03 version).

I know the first (non-03) version has a power rating of 1150,
and the Beast 03 104 (03 version) has a power rating of 1200.
I read somewhere that the 03 version has ports
and the other version does not.
I think both rackets are discontinued but I know they both can be bought new online.

I bought both versions of the Prince Beast 104 - the 03 version and the regular version.
Very similar rackets when playing. The 03 has a little more power, the regular version a little more feel and control..
I would go with the regular version and just string it a couple of pounds looser than the 03 version.
Both versions are getting hard to find.

Basically ports equals a little free power and superior comfort. Non Ported is normally closer to regular racquets, but reasonably comfortable because it is Prince. Nice description of the two.

Out of curiosity, I did a search comparing specs of the Prince Beast 104 and Prince Beast 03 104.
I did a search and found it on the Prince website.
Surprisingly, both versions have exactly the same weight and same swingweight.
I would have thought that the large holes on the 03 version would cause a weight difference.

I recently looked online and saw a review from a tennis website about the Prince Beast 104.
it is a discontinued racket.
The guy wrote that he could not volley if someone hit the ball to him very hard.
That he sprayed the ball everywhere.
I have both versions of the Beast 104 - the regular version and the 03 version with the big holes.
I use multi strings.
I have no problems volleying very fast balls with either of these rackets, and I am only a 4.0 senior player.
So I was surprised by his comments.
By the way, the regular version Beast 104 and the 03 version of the Beast 104 feel very similar when playing.
The 03 version has a little more power, the regular version a touch more control.
I like them equally.
