Prince Neos 1000, is $690 shipped a good deal?

Some one offered to sell their used neos 1000 for $690 shipped. It looks like there are quite a bit of paint ships but he says it works great. Is this a good price for the machine?

Caveat emptor. Is the seller telling the truth? How do you exchange $690 for the machine? What if you get the machine and you decide it isn't worth $690?

EDIT: OTOH if the machine is in good shape then I'd have to agree with Rabbit. Do you have pictures? I remember once someone in the UK was selling a Babolat machine and the picture he used was one of @drakulie pictures.

Do any tools come with it? Can the seller post a current video of himself stringing with it? Depending on its condition that is a decent price imo but I'd still be leery about buying any used stringing machine sight unseen without some evidence that it is in good working order.

I paid $500 in 2009 for mine but I picked it up. It was in close to flawless condition as the seller stated he'd only strung about 50 racquets on it and just needed the cash as he wasn't playing tennis after high school.

The cost to ship a Neos has got to be significant part of the $690 due to its weight.

If you have any concerns, then I'd pass. I'd also start regularly checking TennisMachines. They have used gear from time to time and you will get a good machine/deal.

+1 for Rabbit suggestion, buy from a reputable dealer if you're going to buy sight unseen or pass. You may be passing up on a great deal or you may be saving your $690.

I wouldn't buy a machine or anything that needs inspection for wear & tear or working condition unless I could see it in person. Not unless the seller was willing to accept returns at their cost.

He's not sending a lot of pictures and the ones he sends are kind of blurry. He claims he can't text so he sends an email every two days for information

Sounds shaky. I'd pass unless you can verify the machine exists and works. since he's not local, do you know anyone living near him?

In my experience, unless I know I can return it easily or the seller is reputable. I will not buy anything second hand online that is expensive to ship.

Alright thanks. I don't know where else to get a used machine and my craigslist never has any. I tried contacting tennis machines but they said they don't have any either

I shipped an Ektelon H model (just as heavy as the Neos) from Virginia to Washington state for about $60. That was 15 years ago, but I doubt it would cost over $100. If some place like Tennis Machines was selling it for $690, I'd say it was worth it because I'd know they had gone through it before selling it. But, otherwise, it depends how many stringjobs had been done, how good the clamps were, etc. If the clamps are worn out, you're out close to $75 per clamp, so that would add $150. What if the dogs in the racket clamping mechanism are shot. You can replace them fairly cheaply, but it's still money and time. And, you're getting up there near the price of a new one. Something to consider.

Used NEOS or new Revo 4000? Unless it was coming from a trusted source like Tennis Machines or a friend, I'd be inclined to get the Revo.

That said, it appears to have the necessary parts. I see the floating clamps, tension calibration checker thingy, bag of extra throat pieces, long bars & clamps. Are there supposed to be short bars too? I always like to see if the person takes the tension off of the spring when not in use and can't from the picture. It also has some dust/dirt buildup which means you'll be cleaning but that isn't unexpected; although, it should've come new with a cover.

Some questions:
1) Where are the short bars?
2) Can I see picks of the other side of the tension head?
3) Are the throat and head clamps there? I see a post in the middle pic but I don't see the top. I'd want to see they're both there or it could get pricy and you'd be better off buying new.
4) Is this person the original owner? Have they used it? If they give you the .... I picked it up at an estate or I'm selling for a friend... I don't know much about it.... RED FLAGS!!!

If you could get it for $600, I'd jump on it as long as my questions are answered; especially, the first three. At $690, the new Revo just screams BUY ME with its extras such as a warranty, free string, tools, 6 point mounting and swivel clamps which allow for ATW patterns and the dreaded fan pattern racquets.

I'll post some more pics but thanks for the reply. I asked him those questions that you suggested and I'm waiting on his reply. I think I will probably get this machine if he asks them and I like the alpha revo but I'd prefer a machine that stands. Also, the guy has to ship the machine so I'm taking account the $690 with that

Its not a bad deal if you consider shipping but i personally wouldnt pay over $600 for a prince neos 1000 in any condition. Bought a neos 1500 earlier this year in flawless condition for $800. So i dont think this is a good deal unless you are in an area where there is no stringing machine available

So what happened, did you buy this machine? If so, were all the parts you needed included and was the Neos in working order? I can't see a full view of the two hold-down mounts in any of those pictures though the middle picture shows what looks like the bottom of one of them.

Something is going on with Prince and Neos machines... Just a couple of years a new Neos 1000 was ~$1000 and 1500 ~$1350. Now they are $1400 and $1600. What gives?

What gives is I think Prince wants to phase out the Neos 1000 and is doing so with lame pricing to push people to the 1500. With the Neos price jump theses days then $700 for an ok used ones that is not mint is probably going to be the std market price soon.

All I know is I paid $600 for a mint used Neos + wise last summer. That price point is now gone

Begs to wonder why anyone would purchase a Neos 1500 over a Gamma 6004. In fact, why would anyone purchase a Neos 1000 when they can just pay $50 more for a Gamma 6004? One would have to be a serious glide bar clamp fan.

because its better. the gamma will break down so fast. the prince will last you a lifetime.

I had a 6004 for a while.. But I bought a Neos 1500 because I wanted a 2 point mount (it's actually a 6 point direct mount) and got a deal for a new one I couldn't pass up. I thought the Gamma was built as good the Neos. Actually my Neos had a issue with the tensioner out of the box (which tennis machines took care of). I'm extremely happy with my Neos but quality wise... I'd have to say it's Gamma 1 Prince 0 for me. I do agree that I'll probably get a lifetime's use out of the machine without any problems (espeially when only doing a couple of hundred frames a year).

so we had opposite experience. the neos we had was like 10yr old, still cranking out rackets. the only thing that went bad was the string gripper. the gamma on the other hand we got brand new, and within 1yr the both clamps failed completely gamma had to send us new ones. so
