New racquet out from Prince and it gets great reviews from the playtesters, including one switch to it.

Looks like a winner.

I have a demo on the way of the old version of the 95, from the reviews it'll be interesting and I may need to do a side by side comparison later on.

@jonestim. Hey, thanks for the info about the new Tour 100(310) with its 16x18 string pattern. It sounds like something I'd be very interested in.

I'm currently hitting with the PP100P, which I really like, other than I'd like a bit more easier power. Perhaps the 100(310) would fit that bill. I'm already working on getting my hands on a demo.

The one play tester that considers switching plays with one of the most mediocre and tasteless sticks of 2018 the EZONE 98 which is way off the big success of dr98.... he is also new on the block so.... we shall see how it goes. Andy Cerst still plays and stocking dr98s and said he hasn’t found anything yet to make him switch.

Phantoms appears to be low flex classic feel. Tours looking more mid flex modern player frames. Beast are more in the tweener range with the extra power they give.

Maybe Prince wants to have two distinct lines. Phantoms with more flex and Textreme Tours with less flex. I'll stick with the Phantoms.

I don't know the Tours were distinct enough with their lower flex last iteration. Not sure they had to up the flex more to remain distinct. I like everything about this racket's specs but that 65 flex.

From my understanding it’s the addition of twaron that increases the RA but should still feel pretty flexible. I guess only a demo will be able to tell!

But now there is nothing separating the Tours from the Beast and Warrior lines. This minor racquet company has gone from having nothing to sell but Textreme Tours to having more lines than Yonex or Head.

Their naming is getting even more weird. Instead of calling the 16x18 version of the 100P something obvious like "100P 16x18" they call it Tour 100 310 yet the difference is the string pattern - not the weight. And good luck deciphering the Phantom line with their 100, Pro 100, and Pro 100P models.

This company is nuts.

I agree there could be a bit more continuity/clarity across the naming of their rackets, but their current line offerings for the most part fall in place with what they've traditionally done. The Phantom line occupies the space previously occupied by the pre-Textreme Tour line (round head shape, thin beam, low flex). The current Tour line can be seen as a descendent of the Rebel line (more oval head shape, thicker beam, stiffer). And the Beast line a direct replacement for the Warrior line in the tweener category.

Bottom line is to just look at the RA flex rating when it gets too confusing. It's the most important racquet spec to me because it's the one thing that can't really be changed or compensated for in any way.

They put tt 310 and 100p because the difference is lucas pouille thats all. And about the phamton i think they are gonna make more stiff with twaron only because they say is a dampened feel so for the people that like the phamtons stay with it

I agree with this. Expect to see phantoms with twaron be stiffer for sure.

So aside from 16x18 and Twaron, how is this different from my TT 100P? I’ve added 9gm to the throat and fully burdened my 100Ps weigh ~ 12.5oz. What am I really going to feel if I switch?

I am now hitting with the tt100p and also have a phantom 93p. I am still demoing both of them. I am coming from the older tour 100 18/20 and there is not another 100 stick I have hit with that touches the tt100p for the combo of comfort control and power. Now I do have mine weighted up with a good bit of lead and weight in the handle so that makes a difference. Once I found the right tension I was blown away by the stick. I have hit all the old prince sticks and I really like it. I bought the 93p because of the thin beam and since I move forward a lot, I wanted to give it another try. No way I would be interested in a frame similar to either of these but with higher flex. That is just me.

What tension do you play your 100p?

I strung one up the other day at 48 with full bed of velocity and I love it. That is a lower powered multi for sure. I have two others strung with klip/velocity and I think they are 54/48. They have all settled nicely and I think that this stick does not like to be strung much over 50 unless gut is involved. I had it strung too tight for a while. I strung the 93p with klip/velocity at 52/45 and I think it will be good. Choosing between these two for match play will be tricky. I am going to get some real match play in with both and then make a decision. I must say that I have become a big fan of head velocity in a full bed. I do not use polys for now. My elbow flared up with the 100p but I think it was due to misfits on the thicker beam and a right string bed. Even with a bunch of lead, I can handle the 100p easily.

I’m playing VS gut mains @ 53# and RPM crosses @ 50#. Feels great once settled. I’m tempted to try a full bed of gut at some point. I love the feel.

I feel like 18x20 string pattern makes a big difference though.

TW reviewed the new TT 100P an overall score of 87. Even though there is no written review, watching the videos they seemed to have liked TT 100 (310) even better if not the same. These are pretty strong ratings. Some people in the forums (in other ones) eluded to the fact that "it's clear that TW didn't like the new update as much as the old". I have no idea why they get that impression b/c scores says otherwise. And additionally, that is what happens when expectation is so much higher.... standard that they hold the racquet will be higher as well... therefore surprise and enthusiasm factor of reviewers will be little different as well second time around. I actually think the review was quite positive. You had Tiffani say slightly stiffer but the difference is very little (according to her). Another reviewer talked about how the racquet plays so much softer than its RA rating (i think it was Sean). I am sure it's little stiffer than my TT100P but that racquet is amazingly easy on the arm so going up few points and in return get little bit more power and spin may not be a bad thing. I am guessing that is the only purpose of going slightly stiffer?

On a different note... question to anyone .... Is RA pretty universal or different racquets with same RA rating can have significantly different feel (softer or firmer)?

the only other differenece I see is 100p is 305, vs 310. both listed as 11.5 oz. just ordered the 310 with VS in the mains @53 and rpm blast crosses @50.

The tarwon added to the O3 Prince 104 Beast vs the 105 Premier gives me a softer feel.
The dimension are within 0.5 mm of each other.

I think that comment was made with regards to the new TT95

Neither am I but that is the frame progression with added Tarwon from Prince I have experience with. I am a firm believer that you look at the specs, only to decide what to demo.

Score inflation is a very real phenomenon here; take a look at some old reviews and you can see how scores have crept up in a way that doesn't necessarily reflect progress of a particular parameter.

I would agree with that. I am sure some of that is happening. However, if score is not reliable (which i do not disagree with you), my point still stands as "reading into the enthusiasm of the reviewer" is even more subjective. I saw no real evidence to indicate a negative comparison with respect to the old TTs. My take-away was that the review was quite positive (i am referring to the TT 100 (310) specifically). Someone indicated that disappointment comments were made in regards to TT95 anyways so maybe my point is moot. Given the great soft feel of 2015 TT100P, RA rating going from 62 to 65 may still have enough room for comfort but little bit more power and spin.

I guess the only way to know is to demo when available.

I get fooled by the reviews sometimes but that is really my fault. We have to remember that they are playing with these sticks stock. I did not like my tt100p the first time I tried it. Got so tired of stringing my o-port tours on my old stringer that I just bought three and added weight at 3, 9 and the handle. They are now 12.4-5 oz and play great for me. I am not one for the stiffer RA no matter what, but I would concede that mine did not feel near as good without the extra weight.

With a little weight the o-port tours are great sticks, so glad i own two of them

Did anyone ever play with the previous 310 version that was/is available in Japan? Anyone know what the RA and swingweight is on that one? I always like the original 100P but wanted a 16x18 or 16x19 version.

RA really mostly measures throat flex. So a racket that only flexes at the throat can have a lower RA than one that flexes throughout the frame, yet feel stiffer (*cough* Head).

RA is pretty useful within a single manufacturers lines but not as good comparing between manufacturers.
