Has any one purchased one of the blacked out PS97 counterfeits from China off of the bay?

I purchased one and it just came in yesterday. It weighs 11.5 oz. I can post some pics and compare it to a real PS97 that I'm stringing for a customer if any one is interested.

I love the disclaimer on the listing

**Disclaimer. I am not claiming these rackets to be any brand. I just compared them to a model of Wilson because other than the lack of branding present anywhere on the frame, and the custom weight and balance, they are identical. The feel is very similar, but with just a tad more heft and stability.**

How badly does it play?
It actually doesn’t play too bad. It’s definitely not head light and it does have some heft to it in stock form. It has a weird leather grip and there really is no indication that it is a wilson other than the PW but like the listing said the buttcap is all black and wilson isn’t engraved in the head guard. The only wilson is written in the specs in the throat the Wilson W isn’t there like on the PS97. Also the PS is not on the bottom of the hoop just the 97 painted on. You can tell there was some effort put into making the racquet. I’ve played with the 2015 RF97 before..and they seem to play similar. I’ll take some pics and post them soon.

I just met with someone to get a RF97 red laver cup....after inspection it was 100% fake. Luckily we noticed it, but it was a very good fake....until the buttcap. It looked like a 99cent store buttcap. Be careful out there. I wish I took photos.

Just came across a fake laver cup blue RF97, i enquired with the seller who doesn't know much about tennis, looked decent from afar, photos available wasnt too close to the racquet

Asked for the weight listed on throat, it was 340g - asked him to weigh the racquet, it was 310g :-D

Something else that the fakes will have. The label on the handle will be for a Blade 98s with a size of 4 1/. The racquet I looked at today had that along with one I saw on Mercari selling app. It was a Pro Staff 97 but had the blade 98s label on the handle. Beyond a couple things, it was a pretty impressive counterfeit. All of the other small details where there, along with the hologram. It was the buttcap and weight that really gave it away. If you can still contact the seller, ask for a pic of the handle label. Or see if there is a photo of it on the ad.

If you search pro staff in google shopping, you will see a 97L from Mercari. It’s still posted. There is a photo of the handle label that says Blade 98s.

Not gonna lie, i'm not well versed at identifying the fakes other than the weight, so I'd probably fall for every one of them :X3:

It was the weight that initially set of bells. I then started noticing other stuff. It was the buttcap that really sealed the deal. It was painfully bad. The guy selling it tried playing it off like he didn’t know. Claiming he bought it for $250 off **** and tried to rush the sale. At one point saying he would take $100. Scumbag.

Haha yeah I did accidentally buy a fake k90 a couple years ago when I didn't realize that fakes existed like that, but i was able to return it and get my money back because of paypal protection - the guy with the laver cup one just doesn't know it's a fake on the other hand

Nah, he knew it was a fake. Nor do I believe he bought it off ****. He was trying to rush the sale before we could get a good look at the racquet. That aside. If he thought it was real, why would he try to sell it for a $150 loss? The photo he used on FB marketplace was a screenshot from an **** ad for same racquet proses at $399. He was just trying to scam.

Oh its very fake but they do tell you what racquet they try to match. In your case id assume the prostaff 97 not autograph. But dont worry theyre well made frames and you can customize with lead to match the rf anyway. Im willing to bet it feels different because its more head heavy due to its lack of a leather grip. Put on a leather grip and 4 to 5 grams at 12 and youll be closer to that rf spec. But dont sweat it too much. Wilson quality control isnt even accurate with its own frames. Being close is good enough if you ask me

I bought a bunch of Fake K90s for interest and then I just enjoyed annoying the sellers and taking them to court
It is amazing how easy it is to find sellers and where they source their fake stock

Their excuses were pretty lame generally

Press X to doubt that you actually bought a raquet online and sued someone in a real court. Your fees and time would have put you in the hole even if you had recovered.
