Pro Supex Big Ace

I bought a reel of Pro supex big ace 1.25 red color. I strung it at 55 in a flexpoint Radical tour. Polys that I have used: lux alu, unique big hitter, SPPP, hurricane, kirchbaum TT. (out of these I liked SPPP the best)

I strung it @10% below my normal psgd tension of 60lbs at 55.

the sttring is very powerful, i will string it at 58 next time.

the spin is incredible, best spin string I have used - better than alu

the string holds tension well- plays well after 3 weeks 3x a week heavy hitting

string movement is very minimal as with most poly's

the feel is soft, but not much ball feel- slight edge in feel to sppp.

Overall, I would say this is the best poly on the market today, because it gives you lots of power and spin, is soft feeling-easy on the arm and holds tension well and is priced well. If you haven't tried a 3rd generation polyester string and are staying with ALU or Hurricane, you are missing out big.

Nice mini review! :D

It's better to drop BA tension by only about 5% as it is a comfort oriented poly.

I just strung some up for the first time in the mains with Liberty in the crosses.
I was really hitting the ball well off the ground.
Very surprising since someone gave it to me for free and I only strung it up because I've run out of my usual Excellerator.
I usually string at 65 with multis so I put this in at 62.
It still has the feel (or lack of) poly, which I dislike but I will experiment more with it definitely. Hopefully I will find a feel I'm happy with.

jonolau, I have never had good luck on my arm with poly's but you seem to have found a winner with Pro Supex. As a long time multi/gut user that is looking for more spin and durability without the ultra stiffness - would you recommend a PS string? I am also interested in IsoSpeed and Promix but your reviews of Pro Supex have caught my attention. I am currently using a LM Prestige MP and have an all court 4.5ish game.

Hi BMG, if you're interested in experimenting with polys, you could try out PS's offerings of softer polys:

1. Poly Power Soft
2. Or their latest, Poly Control
3. Other types of soft string - Gosen Polylon SP. This is also a really great and extremely cheap soft poly. But being an older gen poly, it doesn't maintain tension too well.

I just strung up one of my racquets last night with Poly Control and during stringing, I could already tell that this is a really soft poly. I will only get a chance to hit with it tonight.

Start off your experiment with a hybird of poly mains and multi crosses first to see how you like it. Putting a poly in the mains will give you more durability and will eliminate almost all irritating string movement.

If you hit with tons of topspin and are a chronic string breaker, the poly will offer a little more lifespan.

What about the ball feel compared to Alu power rough or Pro hurr tour 17g ??

I don't think the Big Ace ball feel is any worse than alu rough or pht. In fact, since I've switched to big ace, I find that i much prefer it's feel to my other stick with pht mains. In my experience I also like the power level of big ace compared to alu rough: alu seemed to have more pop and I find that I can control big ace better but that's just my experience.
PHT is still a nice string but I do like the big ace much better. Now, if i could only convince my 14 year old to switch.

Hi Jonolau,

Hasn't Poly Control been one of the first polys that Pro Supex made? I am pretty sure it came out before Big Ace.

jonolau - thanks for taking the time for such an informative response. I will try a Poly Power Soft or Poly Control hybrid setup with a multi cross and give it a go. I'll post some feedback soon thereafter. I appreciate the info.

I'm currently using (or trying to use) Volkl T10 VE Mid. I tried the Technifibre Promix 16 ga on it and didn't feel as good as Polystar Energy 16L ga that is on my other Volkl T10 VE Mid. The Promix gave me the same problem I had with synthetic gut. The racquet felt unstable and felt springy. I cut it out after I hit with it for awhile. Yuck!!

the feel of BA is much better imo than hurricane or alu. BA is softer and offers some "dwell and pocketing" alu & hurricane is crisper --less ball pocketing.
