i've been doing it sooo many times it seems natural to me now. but when i started i used to force meself to pronate alot.

unconciously...but it does not come naturally :). after some practice, pronation will be a natural part of your follow through.

if you conciously pronate early or at contact, you will likely:
hit it towards the side fence
stress your elbow
 
I had the same problem and I had heard the eastern backhand grip helps pronate naturally...
I couldn't hit with the eastern backhand so what I did was from the continental grip, I just moved only my thumb and my second finger to the left.
It might not work.. but worth a try... I've been getting a lot of spin because of this..
