Prostaff 90 2014 and Lead Tape

Hello, I have recently purchased and modified a Prostaff 90 2014 with lead tape and have a question. Is it more difficult to apply lead tape on the surface of the Prostaff 90 2014 (specifically at the 12 o'clock position) than some other rackets? I used the same Gamma lead tape on my Prostaff 95 BLX and it worked perfectly, while the lead tape on my Prostaff 90 2014 doesn't stay on. Otherwise, does lead tape have a hard time sticking in lower temperatures?

The paint on the 2014 Pro Staff is more difficult to apply adhesives to. Don't konw why, must be the paint. But I just modded my PS90 last night, and it is possible. Just take your time and apply a ton of pressure evenly across the tape for about 2 mins after you get it in place. It'll hold, just not as nicely as you're used to.

I had the same problem with the 95. You pretty much have to put it under the bumpers. It's funny that they put measuring guides along the inside of the frame but you can't stick anything to it...

Those measuring guides are a total crock. What units are they anyway? It's not in inches nor centimeters, so what is it? Whoever came up with the paintjob scheme for the 2014 PS 90/95 probably lost his job to PeterFig.

haha yeah some kind of arbitrary unit, it can be called a wilson. I prefer the new paint job, with a bit more black and less red they'd be perfect (maybe gold wilson text). I just prefer playing with the older versions.

Not to highjack the thread, but I noticed something interesting on my PS 90 2014 yesterday. The grommet and bumperguard is a bit narrower/smaller than on my K90 and BLX (red/black). Seems like they have saved a few grams here. And then the paintjob "encourages" you to experiment with adding lead tape. It fits with my experience, in swingweight K90>BLX>PS90. To the point were I think the PS 90 is probably a little to low in sw to get proper plowthrough and so on. But ofcourse that is individual. Solution: I feel a bit like getting a "old" grommet set for my PS 90...

Maybe try warming the lead tape up a little with a hair dryer before applying it to the racquet?

Try cleaning the area that you want to apply the lead to with rubbing alcohol first. It won't hurt the finish and dries quickly. This has worked very well for me.

I never had problems applying the gamma lead tape to the prostaff 90, but whenever i used tourna lead tape i could never get it to stick twice. It is only good for one use, whereas gamma lasts forever. If you are having problems, then try the method above, it always worked for me.

I'd rather have the tape not visible. I also have weight my racket atthe two ends (polarized) so I put the lead under the grommet bumper / grip. Even if you use less than a tackier tape it should stick on any surface.
