Question about Nike Cage IIs and warranty (bottoms cracking)

I know there have been posts about this previously, but I wanted to hear from people who have had this issue before and their experience with Nike.

I have had these shoes since the middle of May, almost four months, I believe. I got them directly from Nike.com. The soles themselves are doing just fine, but I am starting to get cracks on both shoes near the middle plastic piece (not sure of the name of the piece).

When does the cracking warrant a service call to Nike and maybe a replacement pair of shoes? As my warranty gets closer to its expiration, I would just like to know my options. :???: Thanks guys!

My cage I's did the same thing, but not until warranty ran out. I think since you are still under 6 months, they will qualify for a new pair.

I had my Breathe free 2's for 7 days and 5 sets. the bottom peice was hanging off the shoe. I than was sent vapors. call up nike and give 'em hell. Good luck

They're pretty good about returns on defective footwear, they usually send a voucher that's good at nike.com

Just called Nike customer service about the shoes after school was over this afternoon.

After some discussion and the lady on the phone asking her boss (I assume), she agreed to send me a shipping label so I can send the shoes, their cost, to get inspected to see if it is a craftsman's defect. At least that is what I think they called it.

I have those cracks too on my shoes which are exactly the ones you have. Let me know if they take them back or not. I have about a month and a half left on warranty and haven't done enough damage on them yet.

Oh yea, those cracks developed pretty early on for me.

Update:

Shoes are in the mail!

They should arrive at Nike's place in a day or two and hopefully I will be hearing back from them shortly.

Well, good news! They gave me a full refund on my shoes! They just emailed me a gift certificate! Sweet!

Yeah, I sent them my order form. Weird story, my mother in-law won a $200 Nike giftcard from Ellen (the talk show) and let me buy a nice pair of shoes back in April. I wore them for about 5/6 months, saw the cracking, and sent them back to Nike with the order form they sent me when I originally ordered them.

I'm pretty excited. I had a pair of Nike Cages in reserve that had no been worn yet and was going to save them until my Cage IIs were actually worn out. However, since they gave me a refund, I can actually wear my Cage Is. I have been anxious to try them! I actually wore them tonight. Pretty similar to the Cage IIs after about an 1 1/2 hours of break-in. Maybe a little more sturdy.

This is off topic, but have you seen any of the Federer wristbands from early in the 2009 season (Australian Open/French Open)? I'm still looking and still out of luck. I do not want to have to order from overseas. Now I know what it is like to not live in America and want specific Nike gear. Ugh!

On the bay, I also just recently scored the Fed summer '09 wristbands: White with charcoal and charcoal with sterling blue. Mainly bought it for the charcoal/sterling blue color.

I'm not too surprised by this, but you actually outbid me on those.
I missed the end of the auction and was a little frustrated. But hey, at least a fellow wristbander is enjoying them.

I think this could go in another thread, but are you looking for some Nadal Electrolime wristbands (or one, I know)? I have some sets from the Australian Open 09 if you are interested in trading for some of the Fed 09 wristbands you do not use. Let me know! I also have some Nadal 08 French Open and 08 Davis Cup. Those are green/gray and red/yellow.
