Question About Tennis Shorts

I am a former college basketball player (NAIA level before its asked), and am just getting into tennis. I have a ton of UV protected dri fit like shirts (Nike, UnderArmour, etc) but I dont have any tennis shorts.

My question is the fit and brand, I have bigger thighs then my waist would normally be. What brands do you like and size?

I am a 32 waist, and have thighs typically are of those who would be Large in shorts.

Help please.

It depends how long you like your shorts, to me at least. I'm 6 ft., 195 lbs. with a 34 waist, but I purchase all Nike shorts in either an XL or XXL so they are longer. After a few washes, they shrink up a little and to me are a lot more comfortable with the extra room.

Your best bet is to hit up a pro shop and try some on before ordering online.

Since you mention dry fit shirts, you may want to consider Nike dry fit shorts even though they are not tennis specific. I have a ton of tennis apparel, but actually find the Nike dry fits to be even more comfortable. The pockets are fine too -- the pocket lining material can sometimes be a problem with non-tennis shorts. I dig longer shorts with a loose fit. The Nike dry fit have the same specs as the tennis shorts I like -- 10" inseam 20-22" length.

I actually almost want something close to a more traditianl tennis cut, ince may 3 above the knee. But still have mobility and not be tight....I think the best bet is fine size within brands and cuts I like but was wondering if anyone had specifics.

I am a personal trainer at a club and the tennis pros are sponsored by Wilson and while they have more what I guess is traditional tennis builds there shorts and cut works. Just need that equivalent within my size needs.

I don't see why you should have any difficulty wearing a medium sized Nike tennis or other brand product.

I have a few Nike tennis shorts and with about a 33" waist and reasonably muscular legs, I still have plenty of leg room in size medium (both 9" and 7" inseams). Nadal has muscular legs and I'd guess he is wearing a medium. I have a bunch of Reebok I like, but I'm not sure they're selling so much these days.

If I were you I'd avoid the tighter fit style like the Uniqlo that Djokovic wears.

If you need a little looser fit, Athletic DNA may fit the bill. My ADNA shorts actually are almost too baggy and the pockets are extremely deep and huge. Very good quality stuff though.
