Question regarding Fischer extended-length racquets

The Fischer Pro Number One Impact FT's. It is based on the flagship Pro Number One, but is lighter and has a slightly larger head. 102 sq, 27.4", Strung weight, 11 oz., SW 300, 6 pts hl, 16 x 19, 62ra, 50-70 lbs., 20/25 mm. Although I've never removed the pallets, the seams and the screws would indicate that they are removable. Hope this helps. -Jack

The Fischer Progressor NT is 27.4 inches long and comes with removable pallets as well.

Yeah, that was the 1st one that came to mind. I hit with that when it first came out and thought w/ a little added weight, it would have been a nice stick. Unfortunately, I had already invested in 6 M-Comps at the time.
As far as I know, that is how they all came. 2-pieces running the full length that split apart at the middle. Just be careful when tightening. It is real easy to overdo it & strip the plastic screw (I know as I learned the hard way).
BTW, where do you plan on finding some pallets? Last I heard ( http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=358453 ), Pacific wasn't selling them to the general public. I'd like to stock up for my X-Force Pros.

I thought I'd read in an older thread that it was only when the Magnetic Speed frames came out that Fischers started using pallets. That is clearly not so.
How far back do you have to go to get to Fischers with molded handles? (I came across a couple of pallets in my grip size at a local shop, and I'd like to know the range of possibilities for making use of them.)

I emailed one guy to see if he still has any pallets for sale.
If he doesn't respond, I will see if I can send my Pacific frames in to TW to get some more, or I might just buy a couple of used extended Fischers (I plan on lengthening the handles) and transplant the pallets.

• Okay... Scotus and I have traded a few emails, and I think we have it sorted out for the most part. Just wanted to post pics for anybody who is following along and for posterity sake, ie. future searches.
• I took all the lead off to show the buttcap (with staples) on the 2004 Pro Number One Impact FT. That makes it a little clearer.
• The ancient 80's model Superform mid that I have is a 10% mystery. There are no staples anywhere on the buttcap, and that sucker aint coming off. It clearly looks designed to be permanent. There are seams where the palletes would join, but these are really super tight, could be just a mold crease. I'm not determined enough to find out. Because the cap is permanent (could be called molded) that can add a little note of confusion to the matters at hand (it did for me).
• As for the gap between 1985 -2005, I don't have a clue, but I'm sure somebody else does. I'm certain there were many changes with the palettes along the way. Despite slim sales in the states, Fischer was an extremely prolific manufacturer. There must be 20 versions of my Superform mono alone.

^^^ Thanks for posting the info. It's the blue/purple Vac Pro 98's and the red & black Pro No. 1's that keep getting my attention, and I never see any with the big grips. I think it's too much to hope that a recent all-in-one pallet would fit those, though.

No problemo. We all figured it out together. Aha, yes the Vac Pro 98's are legendary, and the Pro No 1 are a sweet hit. I will keep my eyes open for you, are you looking for 4 5/8?

I got the pallets from a fellow TT poster who advertized in the "For Sale/Trade" forum here. He has L3 and L4 pallets and has a Spanish screen name.

Just acquired a couple of Progressor NT's from a fellow poster here.
One interesting finding is that Fischer uses the identical pallets (as in Post #14) for both the standard-length and the extended-length racquets (at least from whatever year Progressor came out).
So for the extended-length Fischer, the handle & pallet stay the same length as the standard. Somewhere above the handle is where the length is extended.

That is correct. The pallets are interchangable, so one could change a Fischer Progressor NT L4 for a Fischer M Comp 95 L3 without issue (Progressor is 27.4", M Comp is 27").
The extension is in the throat area, just above the handle/pallets.

Yeah, if I came across a 4 5/8 in the blue/purple Vac Pro 98 at a good price, I'd be sorely tempted – closet full of rackets notwithstanding!
My #5 Fischer pallets look just like Scotus's above. I got them for a pair of M-Comp 95's, but I didn't enjoy the M-Comp's enough )or play well enough with them) to crack the seal on the new pallets, and now I'm saving them for whatever Fischers I get my grubby paws on next.
