Question regarding PT57A

I'm considering investing in the pt57a (shoulder issues) for its flexibility. Can any pro stock experts advise me as to whether or not I can use stock 16x19 prestige pro bumper guards?

Many thanks

don't invest. It's too expensive and frankly not worth the extra money IMO. Get a Tecnifibre T-Fight 315 Ltd (either 16 or 18 Main). It plays extremely similarly to the PT57A.

You could get a PK Redondo MP as well. It's 18x20 but it has the very noodly feeling from a 56 flex. If money is no object, sure, go for the PT57A. If you have to think about the cost, it might not be for you.

Most 57a's are 18x20 (pt630/280) and prestige mp caps fit those. The 16x19's are far more rare and very expensive. Not sure if PPro caps fit. I've read the PPro caps fit the 231.3 which is the 16/19 microgel mp Cilic frame but not sure if the drill pattern is the same as the 16x19 57a

I agree.

I had the pt57a and pt57e. I wanted to keep the e out of the two. But the a I sold that one right away. I think it's a bit over glorified for what it actually is. Just get a 280 it's the same. Anyways, it's not such an amazing stick. It's over priced, temperature/climate sensitive. And there's other sticks that can do what it does better. More control from a blade 98, more spin from a apd, way better volleys with any wilson stick. List goes on. Don't obsess yourself with pro stocks, just get accessible and don't think about racquets anymore.

The PT57A 16x19 is very rare and cost big money. Yes YT and MG Preatige Pro grommets fit. Better to demo the Tecnifibre Tfight 315 Limited 16x19.

Yup. If you can find a pt57a with 16x19 that will cost about 600-700 usd. But that's if you can find one. They are very very hard to find. It's highly sought after for murray's attachment with the frame.

There is some truth above. However, the PT630 is THE BEST combination of feel, control, power and spin stick ever made. Some rackets do one or two things better, and totally suck with other things. The PT630 does not suck in any aspect and does all things well.
Yes, you can get the PT630/280 but expect it to be 4-5pt HL when you string it and close to 350g (12.3 oz). If you wish to have it at 7-8pt HL, you will get close to 13 oz.

I have a couple of PT630s and I like them. They are fun to train with, but I can't play a whole match with them, just way too heavy. I'm considering going back to the T-Fight 315. Even with lead and an overgrip, it's at least 20 grams lighter than the PT630.

And, I prefer open string patterns.

Lastly, PT630s are hard to come by. Not impossible, but they aren't being produced for the general public. It's easier to get a hold of the T-Fight 315.

My PT630s are 12.75 oz, definitely on the heavier side.

the new prince tour pro 100 is an awesome frame, which is very comfortable and rich in feel. I believe it has a stiffness of about 57-58, when I tested it on my rdc. good luck.

i just sold my PT57A's after 2 years of use.

My advice? Go after the Dunlop muscle weave 200g reissues or something made today with a soft flex.

The PT57 is a nice frame, but the only way to get decent power is thru added weight. Mine were 365g. Not sure if that will be a problem since you have shoulder issues already.

Sorry old thread, but could you elaborate on the temperature/climate sensitive issue? Thx!

I have two PT57A 16/19 with the graphene PJ. I tried to install the graphene prestige pro caps and it did not work. The MG prestige pro caps works 100%.

The 16/19 PT57A is not worth the money at all. I feel that a regular 57A with 18/20 fits this frame much better. It feels just not good with the more open 16/19 pattern. I must customize it to a pretty head heavy balance to make it play good for my game and then it feels to heavy overall.

One advice is to look at the i.prestige mp instead. A great frame that produce some more forgiving feel and better power compared to the 57A (PT630CAP). Sure, not that same heavy feel as in the 57A but more modern in the feel and also very nice for the arm.

It's pretty easy to find nice i.prestige mp for around 100$ or less.

Excuse my ignorance, I've never even held a PT57. Been tempted to get one, but they're quite pricey. I prefer 16x19 patterns. I have two matched IG Prestige Pro's that weigh 360g each - how different is the feel between the 16x19 PT57 and the IG Prestige Pro? Enough to make that investment?

PT57A will make IGPP feel like an aluminum junior racquet in terms of comfort and ball feel but unless you're 5.5+ don't bother because we'd be better off spending the money on lessons. It's not going to take anyone's game to the next level. Also because pt57a 16x19's are super rare and go for like 400USD IIRC.

If you want a SUPER similar experience, get a Tfight 315 LTD 16x19 and customize it with some lead. Most of the high level guys who post here compare it to the pt57a especially if you're comfortable around the 12.5-13oz range after leading.

What is your balance and unstrung weight of the IGPP? I only tried a lightly modified IGPP with about 10 grams extra lead and some silicone and i liked that frame a bit more then PT57A 16/19. The stiffer flex of the IGPP suits the open 16/19 way better.

Sure, the 57A is, if it´s not customized to the extremes, often a very nice frame, but not worth the extreme amount of extra dollars. It´s very very easy to customize for example a MG Radical MP to feel almost as solid and comfortable as a PT57A (and i know the MG rad MP is 18/20)

I have never tried a customized mg rad mp so I cannot comment on that. But although I find the PT57A not to be an easy racket to play with, I have never tried anything which plays like it. Awesome frame for those who can use it! I agree with you that it needs to be heavily customized. Mine are at 365g, with silicone in the handle (fully filled) ands strips of lead from 3-9' to 12' (double strips for like 10cm at 3 and 9). It took me a while to find the correct set up. I found that they need to be quite head heavy to perform well.

Yeah, sounds like this is where all the PT57A magic comes from. Just think of the resulting (non-resin) material mix -- something like 70% graphite/5% twaron?/15% silicone/10% lead composite. Must feel very special, indeed. And brick wall solid too at 360+ g and 340+ SW.
Show me a rave review of PT57A spec'd at 320 g and I'll believe the price tag

It does feel brick wall solid indeed! But I have had other rackets at such weights (with silicone and lead), and I never had the same solid feel than with the PT57A.
To also answer your comment, I just don't think that racket is made to work at a low 320g.

btw, any comment on the climate/temperature sensitive issue with the PT57A. Someone mentioned it. VSbabolat, do u have some insights to share on that?

It all depends on how lightweight the original frame is. You can't add 25% of weight to anything but kids racquets (without overshooting 360 g), so pro stocks are unique in that regard

Most of today's frames are like yesterday's kids frame (in terms of weight)! But you're right, the best is an hairpin at 280g or so. A racket at 310g stock is already a bit much, but you can still do great things. Enough room for a bunch of silicone and lead. By the way, nice videos, solid forehand ( 5.5?). But where are these indoor courts? They look quite design!

I have perfect matched pair of Wilson H19 , they're noodle-like flexible .
Truely 98sqin and more powerful than PT57A
Isn't the H19 closer on mould to a prestige than a blade and should therefore have a headsize closer to a 95?

Very identical to the PT57A but from what I can see it has a little more roundish head than the PT57.
I would say it truely 98 and the PT57s are around 96 sqin.
H19 is box beam and the throat is identical to PT57. Even with the Head Pallet.
It's nothing like the retail Blade.
H19 and H22 come with different layup I believe. Mine H19s I think could be the most heavy layup. I tried to bring the balance up it would be 355g and around 7 PtHL. Super power stick because swingweight around 350. Still noodle-like flexibility like PT57A.
I enjoy hitting from the baseline and serve with it. But I play mostly double, so the H19 recently retired as I moved to another quickly lightly stick.

Haha, it's deep in the woods in Kiev suburbs :)
This season I reworked pretty much all aspects of my game for competitive play. Especially forehand -- now with heavy spin, Djokovic style. This led me to switch to lighter Pure Storm (non-Tour version) for matchplay, and now I use classic heavy frames just for fun and physical conditioning :)

Sorry for the late response, I had to wait for the strings in my IGPP's to go. Stock, unstrung with just the stock leather grip, they weigh 334g and balance is 310mm.

Sorry for being the town idiot, but can someone clarify for me...

PT57A = i Prestige MP
PT57E - PT 630

Is this sort of correct? Or is it the other way around? I see a lot of posters calling the 57A the PT630 - I was always under the impression the 630 and 57E were the twins.

This is an old thread but I think that excessive stiffness causes arm problems, not shoulder problems.

What causes shoulder problems?

What I've seen on the forums as causes:

- Technique problems
- Using a frame that is too heavy (which might be exacerbated by something like the PT57A where you need a higher swingweight for power to compensate for low frame power
- Going from something very light to very heavy or the other way around

Of course these are pro stocks, or just the mold of these two racquets - not the actual racquets.

The 16 main is not available on TW.
You're right. They sold out pretty fast, aided I think by the hype that a lot of the knowledgeable posters here were comparing them to pt57a. Definitely still available on the used market or on the auction site. I got into these frames long after TW sold out, and I tracked down 6 to stock up.
