Quit dissing the Lunar Ballistec

Yes. They run long. CB 4.3 for me 11.5......Lunar Ballistec, size 11.
In other words, the LB runs longer. And you have no idea what you are talking about.

They are cut different. Seems like a blend of the vapor & Cbs shape, mind I haven't had vapors since the 5 I think. Concerning runing long they have a slight bit more length over Cb 4.3 but I wear 11.5 in both and don't see myself being able to wear 1/2 size down.

Just my 2 cents: I feel like the LBs run true to size. I actually went up a size and haven't had any issues. They are slightly long, but not drastically so. They're narrower than the 4.3s and especially the Cages, but the flywire/adaptive fit allows plenty of room for a better fit.

All in all, I like them a lot. Plenty of cushioning, comfort, stability, and traction. Really all you could want in a tennis shoe. The lack of ventilation is a minor concern. The only cons are the combination of durability and price. At the $165 price point, less than 20 hours before I get a hole in the midsole is simply not acceptable. The durability guarantee helps, especially if you get them on sale as I did ($95 through the shop I work for), but I'm already sending them back after 2.5 weeks of training.

I wouldn't train in them but they are what I would wear for match play. B5 would probably be a more durable choice for training.

The lunar Ballistec can't be compared to the courtballistec, it's an entirely different shoe. You wouldn't say that the vapors run longer or shorter than the 4.3's, but you would just because they slap the word "Ballistec" on the shoe? I fit people for shoes all day long. Everyone's foot is unique, but the overwhelming majority of people stay at their same size in the Lunar Ballistec. I work in the tennis retail industry, so I know exactly what I'm talking about.

The Lunar Ballistecs can't be compared to the Court Ballistecs? Aren't they both tennis shoes? Aren't they both shoes that you wear to play tennis in? Of course you can compare the two. Just like how players here would compare Prince tennis shoes to Babolats or any other brand that makes tennis shoes. It's helpful for people who want to switch over to other shoes or who want to compare two shoes that they are interested in.

And since the Court Ballistecs line were replaced by the Lunar Ballistecs, it would be natural to compare the two, wouldn't it? In fact, you would sort of HAVE to compare them.

Definately agree anyone looking to transition from Cb 4.3 should consider lb and personally lb is better I used to get roughly 8 weeks out of Cb and I may only get 6-7 on lb but I like the speed and support gained and willingly sacrifice it. Stability is an issue I judge later because I wear out the outside edge of my shoes witch will impact stability later in the life of the shoe.

If you want a gauge of my wear pattern there is a thread called "baricade 8 warrenty question "

I noticed Nadal was wearing the court ballistecs today in his Wimbledon loss. Nike can't be happy about his lack of support for their headliner shoe.

I will stop playing tennis if shoes cost me $130 or $165...period...no way I can spend that kind of money on tennis shoes... I got good deals on 2k11 and 2k12. You have to look at the other companies who make good shoes...pros wear and reasons are obvious ...

When you wear shoes out in 8-12 weeks with sole warranty, you will pay for a good guaranteed shoe. I cant afford to buy a cheap shoe that only lasts 3 weeks.

You can buy lb for $99 you can buy b5 for $90 if you liked 2k11-12 id go Nike. If you wear either out in 6 months send um back get another pair free. So $50 a pair seems cheap to me.

The shoes pros wear are nothing like what is sold to the public for the most part.

LB is more low to the ground feel than 2k11 or 2k12(del potro shoes).

I've been wearing LB for a few weeks now and so far so good.
I may add a thin insole later, though.

I know pros wear custom version. I don't wear out shoes in 6 months (not hard of shoes at all). Also playing tennis for very long time in hot humid southern california weather but shoes last me good 8-10 months (two pairs of socks do wonders)

I have used many prince, k-swiss, adidas barricade and head shoes. They are not walmart or kmart shoes to be precise. So if someone threw that thing, please check out last year version on sale section of TW and many other outlets. I bet many people feel inferior to buy last year model as if they are going to fall apart in no time.

If you like latest and greatest go for new version and use your warranty where you ended up using totally worn-out outsole and risk injury (most of the young kids do that).

Just wondering where you live in Southern California where it's humid?

Have you ever been to Florida, Texas, Mid-west, the South, Atlanta, Washington D.C., NYC, etc. in the summer?

If someone feel southern california has cool summer should check weather channel....not interested in weather reporting ..
It's a dry heat. Not humid at all compared to most of the rest of the country. It's a desert after all. That's why there's water shortages in SoCal and the water has to be pumped in from other States. The lack of humidity with mild sunny weather is why so many people want to live in California, and are willing to pay big bucks to do it. In Florida or Houston, you are drenched 30 seconds after walking outside.

I've been and lived all over the place. I know the weather in SoCal very well.

I think people in California who complain about the weather don't know how lucky they are and probably have never visited the rest of the country (or the world for that matter). I've been everywhere and choose to live in CA. Need I say more?

If so you are right about living in California. I have been to many places myself (so are many people in US. It is not like I have been to many places, and you don't) but southcal is not behind many humid cities in US (depending on your location in LA). I have lived in few cities mention below, which has highest humidity in US.

New Orleans, Louisiana 75.9
Jacksonville, Florida 75.8
Houston, Texas 74.7
Orlando, Florida 74.1
Tampa, Florida 74.1
San Francisco, California 73.7
Seattle, Washington 73.3
Miami, Florida 73.2
Portland, Oregon 73.2
Rochester, New York 72.6

Remember many players don't sweat much and others sweat a ton playing in same tournament or match. So it is relative to person as well i.e. 75% humidity is not affecting one person compare to other... so it is relative...anyways enough for me on this...boring to discuss

You can go to just about anywhere along the Eastern seaboard or to the South or Texas in August and know that it's much more humid than Southern California. Most of these places have 90%+ humidity for days on end during the summer. This isn't even debatable. I live in California and never use air conditioning. I would literally die if I didn't have air conditioning in most of these other places. Have you ever been to Florida during the summer? It's hard to even breathe when you go outside.

don't talk about weather on shoes forum go somewhere else...

back to topic of shoes... right now TW has ton of good shoes for much less...I mean compare to $130 or $160 range... they are tennis shoes with solid history like barricade 7 & 8, babolat etc.. no reason for me to spend that much on shoes but understand younger generation like style (mostly they do it to look cool)

Ive worn Nike and kswiss before with no guaranty and wear out in like 4 weeks, I am extreamly hard on shoes and slide on hard courts. So I only buy guaranteed shoes and only buy from tw and always sale shoes.

The only guaranteed shoe that I ever noticed any issues as they wore down were b8. All my nikes I would look at the sole and see the midsole without noticeing in play.

Anybody find it hard to put a hole in the outsole of these shoes? I've had mine for about a month and a half, and the tread is completely gone on both shoes. I mean like completely slick, but there is no midsole showing yet, it doesn't even feel squishy like a shoe normally does before midsole being exposed. I'm just kinda ticked off because I want to send them in for warranty, but I know they are not ready yet. But they are so slick that I'm sliding around a lot on the court and possibly risking injury. Thoughts on this anybody?

my cages went bald in a month..air bubble popped a week later.. finally a month later the hole burned through the sole and i was able to send them in.. but the last month playing 4 days a week was kinda rough at times.. slipping around. it's what i have to do to legitimately burn through a sole to get the refund..

Sounds like Nike finally figured out how to prevent customers from sending their shoes back for the 6-month warranty while still being able to market the shoes as having said warranty, and thereby, saving the company a ton of money. I'd bet someone at Nike just got a big raise and a promotion. :)

I like them. They are quick and comfortable (and I'm a big guy). I think the biggest problem is the MSRP of $165. If the shoe were priced the same as the 4.3s, I don't think there'd be as much complaining.

Bought both the orange and crimson at happy hour here for $99. For that price, they are a great shoe.

Because people believe that they are better because they want to believe it because they're what everyone else says are desireable.

Nike wearers are such rebellious individuals just doin' it to themselves all the time.

Ah, read this emphatic post just today and it totally made my day!
I've tried so many pairs of Nikes in multiple sizes in last 2 years, not a single one fit me properly - I had to send them all back to TW.

I believe a bunch of people are playing in Nikes 'just cuz' when there are more affordable and comfortable alternatives.

Hey I don't have any issues with any particular individuals favoring Nike shoes. It's the magnitude of popularity of Nike that makes me question if all the people or most of the people using Nikes are truly comfortable with those.

Surely, Federer and Nadal endorsing the shoes must be playing a part.

For me, it's an issue of fit. I've tried Asics, Lotto, Adidas, and I keep coming back to Nike. The 4.3 and Lunars fit my feet best of all the shoes I've tried.

They fit narrow feet very well in my experience.

I only used 17 hours so far. Kind of understand what Nike did for LB.
I always wear out heel area first but this outsole design does not actually touch edge of heel area too much. genius from Nike but seems like I might be ended up same situation like you (Not sure yet though). Anyway I also drag my foot during serve, eventually I will be able to make a hole though.

LB is completely different shoes than CB.
Much lighter and comfortable.
I understand people complain about prices but that's different issue.
shoes itself, it's very well made.

Only problem is air ventilation. it gets slightly hot over 85 degree. I think it's manageable under 85 degree.
this air ventilation problem might be the reason that nadal wears CB instead of LB. Since nadal sweats so much, I don't think he might not be manage sweating problem during matches. probably okay during practices.

I live in South Florida. Ended up throwing the LB in the trash the other day. The cushioning is mediocre, there is zero arch support (so you need to add an insole) and the ventilation is the worst I have experience in a tennis show in a long time. First time I had sweat coming out the top holes of the shoe. I paid $125 for them new. Paying $165 is just stupid, there is nothing in this shoe that merits that in my opinion.

Did you feel cooler when you first moved to South Florida and brag about it, or when you could brag about the fact that you can afford to just throw away shoes?

Sweat coming out of the top of the shoe is user error.

I am finally coming over to the Dark Side - at least for a test. These are now under $120 here on TW - and since I was having no luck at the discount stores, decided to pull the trigger:

Looking forward to comparing them to 9.5.s and the Vapor Courts (which so far are amazing for $60).

I have only played with my pair once;'and it wasn't quite a good hitting session. I think I prefer my Vapor 9.5's more because I have flat feet. Although, I do feel like I have more grip with the Lunar's.

Have hit twice in the LB's; like them a lot. I did go 1/2 size smaller as many recommended and think that was the correct choice. The specs list them as heavier than 9.5s - but sure don't feel like it. Tongue is very soft.

Too hot

So I've been a pretty big defender of the LB ever since they came out. I've got three pair of them and they are my favorite shoe out of the ones I've tried out. However, as the Texas summer hit, my biggest fear has come to fruition. These shoes are just too hot for the summer. I've played a couple tournaments and even the city playoffs with them, and because of the lack of breathability, my feet feel like furnaces now that it's over 100 degrees. I thought that if I bought the all white Wimbledon versions that "maybe" my feet would cool down a bit (I have the laser crimson and the metallic zinc). Yeah, I know it was more wishful thinking than actual logic, but I didn't want to give up on my favorite pair of shoes just yet. Well, after dusting off an old pair of Vapor 9's to practice in yesterday, the ventilation in the V9's vs. the LB's was like night and day. Looks like I'll be using the LB's until the temp drops. I hope next year they can fix the ventilation issue because I love these shoes.

I just played 3 sets of doubles in these today, I got the creamsicle orange ones. I actually quite liked them. Very comfortable, I did get a size 11 vs. 11.5 in the CB 4.3. I did not have an issue with them being too hot, and it is a 95 degree high humidity day. The fit is great, no sliding around inside the shoes, very cushioned; it's all good! The draw back is the ridiculous high retail price, but for the $99 I got them for, they are great! I am jealous of those who got them at Marshall's for $59, that is a super deal on a superb shoe!

John backeds out of Winston to save himself for USO.

Being from Winston I've kinda lost a little respect for him, he could have finished the tournament to try to help us keep it alive, but I guess I have to see his motives. We're 250, he's playing for 2000.

Still, being from 30 mins away from us I wish he'd keep his commitment like he did when the tournament first came around.

The Berdych/Inser final 2012 i think was the best match i've ever seen live.
