Cricket is a quasi game/sport imo like golf. Rafa's accomplishments took more physical exertion day in day out, easier to have off day, sick, tired etc...makes 111-2 even more impressive

Oh lol theres actually a cricketer by the same name. Squash lol um I don't know I don't think the best squash players are the same kind of great athletes as tennis players. Tons of running but not in the same way as a big tennis court

But of course. Current politician & former Pakistani captain Imran Khan's uncle. The very elegant opener Majid Khan's father. This anyway should have given you the hint. ;)
squash's Jahangir Khan

Agree it's difficult to quantify. I regularly played basketball & badminton once upon a time and I have played a grand total of 4 hours of tennis. Though I sucked at it, I didn't find it physically that tiring. Found badminton to be the most physically exerting sport: lots of rallies in a very short period of time. But a single game (equivalent of a tennis set of 15 or 21 pts depending upon the old/new scoring system) rarely lasts more than 12-15 minutes unlike tennis or basketball which can last anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour and a half.

My impression is that for a novice squash, badminton, racquetball etc could be more physically exerting than tennis but at the top level tennis is by far more athletically demanding.

It's not that simplistic. Tennis doesn't involve the level of bending up & down that shuttle players go through. There are no free points available on serve (like aces). Badminton players are tremendous athletes with fantastic reflexes. Smashes can reach 300-400 km/h that are returned more often than not. The precision required is exceptionally high. Short rallies (<5) are very very few (don't have the numbers off the top of my head but it should be ~5-7%). Unless it's clay, tennis has a sizeable number of short rallies if aces & service winners are included.

The difference is that tennis matches are on average are maybe about 75 minutes for Bo3 & 2 hours for Bo5. Shuttle matches are on average ~25 minutes. For good reason imo.

Depends - is there a clay season in squash? That could make it interesting....
