inspired by the very difficult poll on "roger federer vs roger federer"

this one is: roger federer of 2004 vs roger federer of 2005

2004: he won 3 of the 4 slams, lost to 3 time champ gustavo kuerten at the french open, 11 titles, and capped it with his 2nd straight tennis masters cup
-not sure but i think he went 74-6 for his match record

2005: he won 2 slams, got to the semis of the other 2, won 11 titles, now a 3 time wimbledon champ and 2 time us open champ, unfortunately though lost in the final of the TMC to nalbandian, stopping his streak of 24 straight finals won, and ended his year on a 81-4 match record

i did not include 2006 because to me i think its not too debatable, because the 2006 federer won 3 of the 4 slams, got to the final of the french open which he didnt win, became a 4 time wimbledon champ, a 3 time us open champ, and his match record is absurd...like what, 87-5 right now? and he hasnt even won TMC yet...(possible spoiler there...:))

only 3 options, if you dont know, then dont vote!

As time progressed, Roger came to the net less and less. In other words, he came to net more in 2004 than in 2005. Also, his groundstrokes improved by a wide margin. So, I feel that 2005 Roger's passing shots would overcome 2004 (or any time) Roger's net game.

2005. If you think about it he was 3 wins away from winning all for slams and having 5 masters events.

But if you keep thinking, that's at least another 6 match wins. 5 if one of those Masters events was to be Paris or Madrid.

Federer 2005 would win, and he would beat Federer 2006 as well.

thats debatable i guess but i wouldnt think so

federer 2005 went 81-4, won 2 slams, semis of the other 2, and won 11 titles, unfortunately lost in the final of TMC after the ankle injury comeback

federer 2006 is currently 87-5, has won 3 slams, the slam he didnt win he was a finalist, and has won 11 titles already...11 or 12 i dont know...

that in itself are just stats, which favor federer 2006, but i think he is more mentally tougher this yr, not losing to anyone but nadal, and you cant be perfect all the time, upset loss to murray

I would have to say:

Federer 2005 = 2006 > 2004

int a=2004;
int b=2005;
int c=a-1;

while (b>a) {
if (a>c){
c=c-1;
else
c=null;
}
}

LOL, my programming is a little bit rusty!!! Need to prepare for Data Structures! ugh ugh ugh :(

LOL, yeah, that was the purpose. But I guess I should of capped it at federer's year of birth. I guess I have a logic error? :rolleyes:

How about this:

public class Federer
{
public static void main(String [] args){
System.out.println("Federer of 2005 is greater than Federer of 2004");
}
}

I think this would compile quite nicely

My assertion was based solely on the fact that he seems a little more tired to me this year.

tired? so in what ways did he look like he was not tired in 2005 compared to 2006?

i think he might have looked stressed out, in the early part of the season with nadal beating him 4 times in 4 meetings, all in finals, where prior to TMC 2005 he was flawless

Yes 2004 had the additional slam and masters cup, but 2005 was a higher level of play and not by a razor thin margin either.
Wow, you really went on a posting spree.
