It's great to see Roger spending time with the less fortunate. I'm sure these kids are going to remember this experience positively. Roger really is a great person!

I don't care what people say about him and his love for money. He's doing a great job improving the lives of many in Africa. Much much like.

What line of work is that?

Wholesale roaming. I am the roaming coordinator of a mobile operator in Serbia called Vip mobile Serbia. I still live and work in Bulgaria.

In short, I make sure the company expands its roaming coverage all across the globe and work with companies from all over the world - Vodafone, America Movil, Telefonica, Airtel, Aircel, MTN, Telenor, TeliaSonera, MTS, TIM, T-mobile, Etisalat, AT&T and other groups of mobile operators.

Airtel Malawi is one of the mobile operators we are currently working and testing with.

Sounds cool. Roaming is an interesting topic.

I know a lot of this stuff is PR driven, but still I love these sort of videos (maybe because I'm an emotional man).

Good on Roger, to give back to the community and helping underprivileged children. Inspiring stuff! :)

No doubt experiences like that will put his Wimbledon loss into perspective, completely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Very nice.

Always good to see. Glad that sportsmen can make a difference. Apparently the Federer foundation hope to provide education to 1 million kids in Africa.

The majority of people would do the same in Fed's position.

I know Vernonbc disparaged the charity efforts of the rest of the big 4 compared to Rafael, but I think they all do a great job.

Yep, will certainly do that.

I commented on this video without watching, and I stand behind my comment even more so now.

This act is even more selfless because it seems that most if not all of these children are completely unaware of who Roger is. Let us not forget that Tennis is a difficult sport to grasp when you are living in extreme poverty, and we should be grateful we each have the means to play.

Soccer, as most of you probably know, is the preferred sport in most third world nations, as it is the most accessible sport to play.

Indeed, it's probably very refreshing for Roger as well to be around so many people/kids who are just happy to be around him because he is a nice guy , rather than a tennis player/celebrity

If he did not have the money, he would not be known as a nice guy.

Really? I've volunteered in Africa, I don't have much money, but after teaching kids basic maths + english, and just bringing some joy to their life for a couple of hours a day by playing some games, they seemed to think I was a nice guy.

What an ignorant person you are, your post tells me all I need to know about you and how small your world must be. When people are trying to do nice things, there are always those with who want to impose negativity on the situation, those kind of people hold the world back.

Can't believe the random hate for Roger.

How can anyone disparage anybody for going to Africa to help poor, hungry kids? Embrace the charitable efforts of ANYBODY... it's all good.

I can't believe how Federer haters speak negatively even about something this beautiful. What kind of a life do you guys have? I hope someone will hug and kiss you today.

Finally Fed found the right banana for him. Good for him. No more hiding.

In Africa you can exchange food for a lot of "attention". Blue UN Helmets could explain that method more.

Celebrities need charities for a number of reasons, including networking, protection from jealousy of politicians spurned when they requested campaign money, a good public image to make government authorities think twice about pursuing tax evasion cases, tax deductions, and of course ego boosting.

Federer in my opinion does care, he did that make a wish thing with a lady was recovering from some issue and they went to lunch, he wanted to do it, it wasn't a publicity stunt. WWE's John Cena does this also and there's more whom have done good because they do actually care. It takes a real person to give ones time to people less fortunate without wanting anything in return.

I'd say 90% of Celebs or Personalities ect just exploit in particular African children to be perceived in the eyes of the West as "Good people", it's all a load of BS and people should call them out on it, Bob Geldof and that guy who sang "Vienna" made a mint from the Live Aid stuff, did he spend his money actually helping those people less fortunate? NO, just massage their ego's, whilst having a messiah complex. Where did the AID money go? It didn't go to the Africans did it?

You could tell Federer really enjoyed being in the company of these fine children and people of Malawi.

It seemed very genuine on his part, and it's great nonetheless to have such a charitable champion like Federer still in the game. Arguably the BEST role model for children, in terms of attitude and game (tennis wise).

Who cares if he is doing it for PR or not. We should stop being so cynical about everything. It is a great initiative from Federer and his foundation.

Which are exactly not what Federer is doing this for. Oh, you must be talking about someone else, right.

While I agree a lot of the funds raised go wasted even before reaching the Africans, Kids in Africa will not care what they receive is just some PR stunt or not. The important thing for them is some people are sending them what they need. Let anyone for any reasons send something to them. Every single help will make differences.

This. Also, it's not like Federer is just sending some money and never bother to actually find out what's happening there. He cares so much that he visits those places in person. I guess his mother being a South African must make him pay more attention to Africa, but still, it is not easy for anyone to take time away from his busy schedule and make a personal contact with those people in poor countries. I'm sure a lot of half hearted donors will never want to visit those 'unworthy' places and just send money. Federer is different. He always seems genuine in whatever he does.

For someone like Federer, time is a more precious commodity than money and the fact that he took out time to actually visit this place and spend time with the kids, when he didn't really have to, says that he has his heart in the right place. He could have been holidaying and spending time with family instead which must be a luxury given his schedule.

Looks like he regularly does these visits as part of his Foundation every couple of years.

Obviously that 97" frame really hampered his food sharing technique. Should have stuck with the 90". Would be GOAT ambassador. What a sham!

Best way to relax and enjoy life for him. But I think he should teach them football. Great post

Reading this thread while keeping ignored content invisible is great :) there's suddenly so much less negativity :D

This is very charitable from Roger and just one of the many reasons why I consider him a great role model for many. Few who are as well off as Roger and who are on such a tight schedule as he is invest the time to go and see the children and to check on the progress of projects. Most just send money and consider their image bolstered and their conscience eased with only that.

Ugh such arrogance, so fakelyhumble, such classlessnessnessnessness.

I'm surprised that when he was handing out those dishes of food, he didn't just toss them over his shoulder like he does with water bottles.

Its hard to act the way Federer conducts himself. I think hes just genuinely a cool guy.

Federer should use his foundation to fight neocolonialism and the real reasons why poor nations are poor. This is nice and good for his image, but in the big picture completely futile. I would kill to just have 10% of his influence.
