Huh? "He (Nadal) went to Wimbledon the day after he won the French Open"
He went to Wimbledon and then he went to Queen's? Or are those two tournaments really close in distance?

I can't believe Pete thinks Nadal could win 10 French Opens. Not only has he lost his hair, he has lost mind too.

God Bless that bald feak.

I believe that they're both in London.

If not, then it was inferred that Rafa got to a grass court as soon as ****ing possible after the French.

It's possible. He _could_ win 10. Nadal just turned 22 and he had already won 4.

(I haven't read that link in the OP btw.)

Sampras would have won at least one French Open title if he switched to a 95 square inch racquet for the clay court season. Even Sampras said in the past that he regretted not switching to a larger head size for the clay court season.

Uhmm, yeah. Nadal just turned 22, and has more physical problems than any other 22 year old on tour>>> which is why he always has a bad second half of the year. His body has not been able to keep up with the gruel. This year is by far his best second half ever, so we'll see.

However, there is no effen way he wins 10>> no way. Even Sampras, who played on an easy surface to play on physically, compared to the french, and had the weapon to continue winning it in his serve, >> only got 7 wimbledon championships.

^^^Wrong again. He would have won 8.

Sampras definitely would have won at least one French Open title if he switched to a 95 square inch racquet for the clay court season. However if he started his career with a 95 square inch racquet, he would have surpassed Jack Nicklaus's 18 major championships.

Do you know no male player has ever won a grand slam more than 7 times (in singles)? I really wonder if anybody will ever pass that number! Thanks for posting the Sampras interview, I found it captivating.

With the lack of really good claycourters I wouldn't say thats too much of a stretch. I still think Federer could get at least 2 or 3 more Wimbledons as well.

10 french opens is a far stretch for someone who is already hampered with nagging injuries. It is by far the toughest surface, and that time in the tennis season is the most grueling. No way he gets close.

Like Nadal said recently.... where is everyone getting this he is so injured stuff from? He wears knee tape... its not as bad as some of the people on here wish it was. His footwork is also much better than it used to be.

Anybody else sense something [uncomortably] strange on how Courier compliments Nadal's "looks" and "swager"??
It's not stranger than Sampras saying Nadal is a stud!! I mean come on even the commentator said Nadal was good-looking, just stating the obvious you know :)

He said 9 or 10. Maybe he's pushing it a bit but we get the idea, it's pretty reasonable to think Nadal will win a few more RG. On a side note, it's funny, Pete is losing his hair but somehow I find him way more attractive now than when he was on the tour.

Pete is just trying to jinx Rafa. Remember when he once said that Roger is going to win 16, 17 maybe 18 slams? Now it seems like Roger cannot get pass 12. Pete is sending some kind of a vodoo vibe to Roger and Rafa. Sampras is freaky!

You're such a Nadal basher it's not even funny...

Something interesting that Agassi said in an interview w/ Charlie Rose was about Sampras. Rose asked him if he would ever like to know Pete on a more personal level off the court and Andre answered no because so much of Pete's life involves tennis and so little of his does. I thought that was such a telling statement and after reading the Sampras autobiography and listening to the interview you can really see how all-consuming tennis was to Sampras and how he had to lock himself into that world to dominate the way he did. Sampras almost seems a little lost during that interview whereas an interview with Agassi covers so much more beyond his tennis career. Just an observation.

I've always found this interesting.

I think Sampras was always very up front about the fact that he was a tennis player, no more, no less. While he was playing, I often found this to be a refreshing change from those athletes who seemed to think that their skill at their particular sport somehow made them an expert on a variety of other topics.

Now that he's retired, I keep my expectations pretty low when it comes to Pete's interviews. Sampras was and remains a "jock" at heart. Agassi was always a different story (although I admit that in his younger days I think he attempted to seem more sophisticated and well-rounded than he actually was).

How is my post bashing Nadal??? The guy has had injuries for the past 4-5 years. That is a fact.

The clay court season is the most grueling part of the tennis season. (another fact).

nadal plays more tennis during this time than anyone else on tour (another fact).

No way he wins another 10 French Opens. It's absolutely ridiculous and laughable to even suggest.

Go learn something.

Nadal has had one serious injury in 2004...a stress fracture in his left ankle.

He decided not to play at Hamburg for rest purposes.

He's had blisters.....

So thats like 3/4 of one year injured...not 4-5 years

You have no respect for Nadal's game at all..I've seen your posts, in some way, shape, or form, you criticize Rafael Nadal. Whoever you're a fan of..Federer,Djokovic,Davydenko,Roddick,etc...you heavily blast Nadal and it's so irritating because the guy is on such a hot streak. I'm a die hard Nadal fan..but I never hesitate to say that Federer is among the top three greatest players in tennis. It's sad too because he's bringing in an era of young guns that could bring much needed publicity to the sport. You are the definition of one who does not deserve the title you have. You make me sick.

G.O.A.T.
That part where sampras tries to explain to charlie rose why nadal shouldn't s/v all the time was hilarious.

Yeah, I saw his David Letterman interview when he was promoting his autobiography and it was the same questions posed to him that you've seen over and over. All tennis related you could almost predict what his answers were going to be. But at if you're a tennis fan you get exactly what you expect w/ Sampras. No controversey, a classy guy and an avid tennis fan.
