Seeing Fed in Miami

Sorry if this type of thread has been overdone, but my brother and I have never seen him and are looking at tickets now (mainly because it will be cheaper than trying to do US Open). We have the option to get courtside seats the 26th during the day, but we are worried he may not play that day or session.

What would you do? Buy as many sessions as possible or just do the day and pray/see him practice?

There's also the worry he withdraws last minute, maybe not feeling it during a practice session.

Thanks

Alex

Sorry to let you down, but Roger Federer is not scheduled to play the Miami tournament this year.

For the past couple years, he has elected to skip Miami after playing Dubai and Indian Wells, and this season, he is missing all three due to the knee surgery. He's not planning to play next until the Monte Carlo Masters event in April.

Here's his schedule directly from his website: http://www.rogerfederer.com/en/tennis/schedule.html

Sorry to say but he's playing as you will see in another thread in this same section.

OK, I just saw that thread... seems that he announced it via Twitter and didn't update his website.

Interesting move coming off of the surgery. Seems more prudent that he'd wait to come back on clay. However, the healing must be progressing well ahead of schedule

Odd move for sure. Would you wait for the draw to come out or just pull the trigger on a session?

In terms of answering the OP question: I haven't been to Key Biscayne during the tournament, but I've been to Indian Wells a couple times. In my experience, it's better to buy cheaper grounds passes or outer stadium seats during the first 2 or 3 days of the tournament and catch the players when they are practicing. I've seen Federer practice up close in IW three different times, and it was awesome!

At this point it's really impossible to say. The men's second round begins on the 25th, day and night, and concludes the 26th, day and night.
He could play any of those sessions on the main court, or possibly even the second show court if there are some better R64 matches, though that's very unlikely.
Common sense would put him on the main court at night, but you still don't know if it's the 25th or 26th.
And he could certainly be the closer for a day session.

If you simply want to see him, Jack's advice is best. If money is no option I'd buy tickets to both night sessions. Maybe a compromise, buy one night session and ground's pass for the other day.
Going to a tourney to see a specific player is tricky. Best of luck.

Got it, thanks. I went to Miami last year and don't remember any practice sets being played though. Hopefully that's not the case, although it'll be nice just to see him hit regardless.
