Rochus is more like 5'3". I was standing right next to him at the Pacific Life after he beat Wawrinka.

Bwuahahahahaha!! No kidding. Welcome to the real world lads. This sort of thing has been going on for a 100 years or more. The NFL sizes are excellent reading for those who enjoy fairy tales, but those guys are still seriously huge.

Anyway, the average height may be 6-1 in shoes with 5 pairs of Orlo socks.

If you are a short guy, have no worry, you will be fine through high school at least, and probably at most universities as well. Maybe at NCAAs you might find some difficulty if you are 5-5" tall.

Pancho Segura was what, 5'4" tall? LOL, I saw him in Cleveland and thought I'd seen a midget. But, man could that guy hit the ball. Big things come in small packages, including guys like Rod Laver.

Almost all of the shorter players pad their height. Rochus brothers are 5'4" as well as Henin. Hingis adds a couple inches to her stat. Shortest current pro has to be WTA's Vives who is under 5' but can whack the ball.

Vives is under 5'? That is absolutely crazy. I thought she was 5'2" at the very least. How can anyone hit a serve over 60 mph if they're under 5'?

this may help

okay, check this out

I am in the middle. I'm 5'8.5'' with my shoes off. The Asain guy to the right is 6'1". We are both in dress shoes with similar heels on level ground. Notice the height difference, and compare with this photo
atp.jpg

Federer is listed everywhere as 6'1.25" so lets use him as the standard. everybody has dress shoes with similar heels except for roddick.
based on this, hewitt is much closer to my height than 5'11" and coria is not 5'9"

You can't use this to compare. Camera lens distort. Different camera lens distort different degree. If you are using the same camera, then you can compare if you know where the camera's focus is. All height are distorted outside of the camera focus.

For the first picture, it seems the camera focus was on you, thus the height of the asian guy was distorted. The height difference between you two are not accurately reflected. For the second picture, it is difficult to tell which guy is the focus of the camera, thus you don't know whose height was not distorted.

It can't distort the height THAT much. Obviously the pictures are used as generalizations. you can't tell me that a camera pointed perpindicularly at people on level ground creates a distortion so great that general heights cannot be ascertained. there are no "fish eye" lenses in use here where that would obviously be the case.

Your big pants make you look short (but you're still like 4 inches taller than me -______-)

And geez, all of a sudden fed and roddick look tall/big when wearing suits o_o

It could. The point is you don't know what lens each picture used. If you have taken photograph class, you'll know because they always put lens and exposure out. This is same principle in architecture, the focus point of the building is always taller than the rest even if they are same height.
