Soccer shoes on grass or artificial turf?

Given that grass (and even artificial turf) courts are rare, it's no surprise that there aren't a lot of chances to buy tennis shoes for those kinds of courts. I used to think that the Adidas Feather IV was great for those courts but sadly they aren't made any more.

I've been wondering if futbol/soccer shoes for artificial turf would make a great alternative.

Now to be absolutely clear, I'm not talking about cleats for firm ground, which will definitely tear up a natural grass court.

Any thoughts?

All of the clubs I have played at have banned those types of shoe and grass court specific shoes for play on their grass courts. They wont even let you use the Feather IV now. They must be herringbone now. It is because all the others tear up the courts.

Yes, if I were the owner of a grass court and had to pay all that money to maintain the grass, I would set up such requirements as well.

Damn! Reasonable response on their parts for natural grass.

Well at least you can still use something extra on artificial grass.

But if you use herringbone tread on a grass aren't you risking your life? o_O
