Some Observations From a Division 1 Match

^^If they honestly can't see the ball, then they should call it in. even just today, the guy hits a clean winner in the tiebreaker 8-6. now this was a Huge point, since 9-6 or 8-7 is completely different situ. then the michigan guy and the both coaches go crazy and start arguing with the Umpire. funny thing happened after 5 minutes of arguing, the ump reversed the call and score became 8-7 and michigan went on to win the match. very odd situ, umps usually stick with the call. that ump won't be moving up to ATP tour anytime soon.

^^ theoretically they should call it in, having played in some pretty high level junior level tournaments this is not just a college problem. In tournaments there is only a couple officials and cheating is even more blatant in college. If something is going to be done it needs to be done before college and in the jr ranks.

*Funny story: one time we were playing our arch rivals in HS. I had a bad foot but was playing anyway and dropped the first set 6-2 but managed to get up 4-2 in the second. Opposing coach walks over and tells the guy "to tighten up his calls". From then on out anything within 2-3 feet of the line was out. Its because of things like this that we have problems in college

I was very unimpressed with his on-court attitude. Dropped tons of F-bombs, threw his racquets, nearly hit opponent with balls hit in anger, etc. - in general, behaved like Andy Roddick.
Yep. This is why (supposedly) he was kicked out of John Roddick's academy. He's got a pretty bad attitude. The fun is watching Kutrovsky vs the two freshman. Kutrovsky is very, very poised, and is a very intellectual player. It's almost impossible for his opponents to read his shots, and he's got very good court sense. Corrie and Kellen are pretty animated and emotional guys. I say give them a year to a mature a bit.

One of the problems with the college tennis to pros transition is the amount of matches played during college. Then if you add summer matches to that some people are just fried physically and mentally by the time they finish.

The pros are bigger too. Some people who play college are fantastic players but they didnt take the same approach as kids as some of these kids who are prepared for competition from birth like steers being sold for auction.

Ha! I think you sold me one!
I still have a stockpile of POG LBs, but I'm mostly playing doubles now, so I've tried out several other frames. The POG LB is still my holy grail for groundstrokes, but I don't volley well with it. The LE Radical is kind of a compromise between the Pure Drive and the POG LB. I just wish it was 27.5in long!

I just went back to the POG LB after using the diablo xp os for a long time. Hey, I have two Agassi LE radicals customized to 28" by Bosworth if you're interested.. and since you want them to be 27.5 I'm sure you could just cut .5" off.. let me know if you want them... they're L2 (1/4) grips. Yeah...D1 tennis is fun to watch. I have had the chance to watch both men's and women's over the past few years here at UF.

1) The women here are far better than I was expecting.

2) You really do notice the special players, like someone mentioned. Levine was great last year, I still laugh every time I remember my roommate (who's also a tennis junkie) saying who the noobie freshman was playing #1.

3) It's really awesome to watch and it always motivates me to practice and play harder. If you're in high school or part of a team and have a D1 program nearby go watch some matches. These guys are fun to watch and the motivation factor is truly great.
