We went Tuesday for the day session. I took a few pictures, thought I would share them.
Got there at 11am, left at 4pm. We watched 4 games of Ginepri vs Murray on the grandstand court, and 7 games and breaker of last set of Mirnyi vs Karlovic.
Why did we watch so few matches in 5 hours?
We spent most time watching the practice courts. I didnt think the top guys played each other in practice, but they sure do. Watched one set of Robredo vs Berdych. From 6 feet off the court! Only about 20 people bothered to watch. #7 against #10. This could be a quarter or semi at a slam!
Was surprised watching those 2 how little net clearance on most of thier shots. 6 to 12 inches. Also, when Robredo hits hard he LOOKS like he is hitting hard, putting effort into the shot. Berdych looks effortless each time, just some shots have tons more on them.
Watched Ferrero and Lopez, Roddick, Hewitt, Nadal, all practicing. I think Nadal and Hewitt played a practice set, didnt stick around to see it.
Watched the Bryans play a set against Knowles/Nestor. That was awesome. Again, on the practice court, sitting 8 feet from the sideline.
Must have seen 12 of the top 20 on site, either practicing or playing. Fed, Nadal and Roddick drew the most attention. Dancevic drew a bit of a crowd too. Didnt see Federer practicing or playing, he was driven by on a golf cart, with 200 people running after him. lol.
Great day, wish i could have gone back for Wed or today.
Here is a link to some of the pics in case anyone is interested. Not great ones, and I should have taken more but was too busy watching.
