Southern Cali Tri Level Sectionals (Pics and Vids)

So this past weekend, I was out in Long Beach representing our region in the annual Southern California Tri Level Sectional Championships.

These Sectionals showcased the best Tri Level teams from all over Southern California...in a round robin-like format for a chance to be the sole representative of Southern California in Nationals.

We played out of two venues: El Dorado Tennis Center, and Lakewood Tennis Club (both in the Long Beach Area). We lived close enough to make the drive both days..i felt sorry for those teams (e.g., Bakersfield) who lived further away. They must have rented a room or something...

Without getting in too much detail at this time (feel free to ask), we didn't make it out of our Flight. We lost to the eventual representative of Southern California, the OC team. Our team did place second in our flight, losing only to them. By record alone (not an accurate measure but...) we beat out SGV to place 3rd overall....so I'm now going around telling people that we are the 3RD BEST TRI LEVEL TEAM IN ALL OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA....HAHAHA...Now doesn't that sound impressive?!

Our team was also chosen to compete in a national picture contest put on by Cliff Bar...i dunno what we would win if we are chosen though...

Our Doubles League is going pretty well too...hopefully after this weekend i can report that we will also be participating in the next Sectionals in Indian Wells early next year!

We Lost to the eventual winner, the OC team. They are our Southern California Tri Level rep.

We played in the 3.5/4.0/4.5 Tri Level.

Yourself played 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 at the same time? why would usta let that happen? If you can competitive in 4.5 then you should be DQed from lower level. Right?

Tri-level means that there are 3 lines of doubles played - one at 3.5, one at 4.0, and one at 4.5. Individuals can play up (a 3.5 can play at the 4.0 line), but no one can play down (a 4.0 cannot play at the 3.5 line).

I am asking which level OP was playing. Per video and your info, I guess he is playing 4.0. Right?

Yes sir! you're correct, i played at the 4.0 level. But like Shanx said, we can also play one level up. I played 4.5 in the first round and 4.0 in the second round ... we only had two 4.5s but four 4.0's ... kinda good it worked out that way cause the 4.5s wouldn't have been able to play down but 4.0's can "sub" in for them...
