"Sponsorship"...... Opinions are needed

I started tiny men's tennis apparel company (more like a small store).
I did not consider any sponsorship for my company but I already got several sponsorship requests (I think I might reconsider it at this point).
I don't have a problem with helping young players but
I always consider "Sponsorship" as Full sponsorship but I searched here and found there are many companies offer "partial sponsorship".
I don't know those companies use the word "Sponsorship" as a marketing strategy or there is no perfect term for "Partial sponsorship".

Well, in my little experience, most partial sponsorships give discounts on their stuff. And please consider doing this because I'd like to get a pair of those shorts on the website.

^ basically. here's what most companies do. they offer a package deal for X amount of money. From what ive seen, if you are top 25 er so in your section your stuff is free.
the main point of sponsorship is to promote your product, so you know if someone is in the top 25 they'll be playing a lot.

not sure where your store is, but i would start out local. maybe with the teaching pros or the local high school team, or some other people who play a lot of tournaments.

good luck with the company, and if you need anyone to sponsor your company in northern illinois, Ill be your rep :D

OP, what is the website for your apparel company? I am interested in seeing what kind of stuff you have, I haven't seen any of it and would like to!

Well my coaches son has a full sponsorship from prince but he is in top 10 in texas and top 75 in US. A lot of the guys at my academy are highly ranked but there style of play is not as different as my coaches son so they have partial sponsorship. When sponsoring someone you should look at there potential and there style of play not just ranking.

I would give x amount of full sponsorships and then offer packages for anyone who is at a certain ranking... most companies will do top 40 in section for a package and top 20 or 15 in section for full. For itf and college pretty much if you play them and do fine or on a div 1 school you get full.

If you have a website for your company, state the rules for sponsorship on it.

For example, you could have a tab that says sponsorship.

There you would list national and sectional requirements for full versus partial sponsorship.

I wanted to have opinions so that is the reason, I did not post the link.
I will post detail info at my Facebook.

BTW I got emails from people and have some issues with their emails.
Their Internet provider blocked my email and can't deliver my emails.
If you don't here from me, that's the reason.

My daughter played a tournament and Babolat was one of the sponsors. He gave me contact info and sent papers for players package. Raquets, shoes ~50% discount. Shes Top 25 Florida. I talked to her coach who gets prince and head and asked are these deals good. Also asked our local shop and all told me any money saved on equip can help offset cost of lessons, travel etc.

It benefits apparel/equip mfg, when top kids are seen and others copy. So a healthy discount benefits all

Any updates??......

I made my mind about player packages but slight delay on productions due to holiday. As soon as final sample is ready, might need several people to test for fitting (size). All those information will be at facebook so stay tuned ^_^

No offense. I certainly wish you the best of luck. But taking on Nike, Adidas, Wilson even Lotto in their space is a form of financial suicide.

I'd like to be in on this, also if you need help designing products I'd be glad to lend a hand--->artist looking for work

I might need you in the future, when I don't have new ideas anymore ^_^

Actually, I was thinking same thing and told same thing to people who try to start new tennis apparel lines. as I told before, my company is more like a small store so I might not have a big financial burden. nowadays Big companies raise the price every year and I thought there will be markets for decent quality and affordable priced items.

I tried to release my shirts and shorts around AO period but it will be delayed but I will have a small news though.

Looks nice. Now, I'm all for small business and entrepreneurship, but aside from your hats, your prices are not very low. Sure, you can buy new releases from the big names at full retail and pay more, but you can also walk into discount retailers like Kohls or Ross and buy Nike, Addidas, and Fila for under $20 every day. Just the other day I bought my son a Nike tennis shirt for $15. If you want to get a foothold, you have to either be really unique or really cheap. Heck, you can buy Champion tennis shirts at Target for $10. Not the best quality, but for a junior who will outgrow it in 6 months it'll do.

I took advantage of the sponsorship program, and I must say, I love this clothing! The wristbands are awesome :) Also, I love the custom logo option. When do you guys get more colours???

I would also seriously work on improving your website.

I am aware of the issue. I have a plan to upgrade but Since it's very simple to operate, I will keep it as it is for a while.

it will not be very soon but I have some ideas of new color.

Saw some of your designs. Love Them! I was thinking of taking a page out of Nike and Wilsons book and do two different clothing lines for Arrow Up. Keep the Polo range you have and make a crew range. The polos can be simple and classy (like the RF line) and the crew line can have more patterns and vibrant colours (like the Rafa line)Just a thought to make the brand even better.

I would consider personally visiting tournaments and watching some matches. Other than being able to watch their technique and potential, consider their character, sportmanlike behaviour. attitude counts. People do not want to copy the style of a winner with a bad attitude. Make sure they are representing your brand to your satisfaction. Otherwise it's your money down the drain.
