sprained ankle 6 week report. Anything else to do?

Sprained my ankle 6 weeks 4 days ago.

Went to the doctors 2 weeks after it happened.

Been doing all the exercises the Pter said to do plus a few more I found on line.

Doc said it was a significant high ankle sprain.

Should I be concerned that I still cannot run without moderate discomfort(definitely not comfortably enough to play).

The main area of pain is on the inside of the foot near the big bone there(femur joint?) And my Achilles

Has anyone else had a sprained ankle that has taken this long to heal.

Thanks

I see people all the time in a pain clinic I consult in who've had ankle sprain symptoms for 4 to 6 months. This is not unusual. Most clinicians feel doing alot of exercise while you still have pain is NOT a good idea.

You might have heard about my sprained left ankle, now going on it's 4th year, no running, no hopping, no weight. Swelling nightly inside of, and below the ankle bone, but above the arch bone that protrudes outward.
Exact same sprain on my right ankle this winter, while pushing g/f into waves. That healed in 3 weeks.
Could flat feet and it's excessive pronation be a factor?

You should take care of that ankle, it is important if it is your first time in that ankle.

Whenever you got your "clearance", start working to develop that ankle's stability, wear for some time braces and do an easy aproach to tennis.

I played football (soccer) for many year and saw players returning soon to play, recurrence is worst. In tennis is almost similar situation despite of the fact that you run differently.
