hard to say really… Certain aspects of their backhands are better for the respective player…

Federer has better recovery (e.g. slice) and passing shots (also reactionary shots), whereas Edberg has a more solid rallying backhand.

Edberg had the better backhand, also slice and reaction wise. Apart from McEnroe, nobody had better reactions anyway.

Other way around. Federer has the better rallying backhand, Edberg the better passing shots/reactionary shots. Edberg never had to rally in his era the way Federer does in his. He built his game around the serve-and-volley, not baseline play.

But he was a brilliant shotmaker with his backhand, which is where he gets the edge.

Edberg's BH is not Nadal-tested so he can say whatever he wants. Fed had to improve his BH tremendously to face Nadal. Only Guga's BH could have stood up to Nadal (among the 1 handers).

I think there are some one handers today that can stand vs Nadal. But unfortunately they lack in other departments.

Guys like Gasquet, Wawrinka.

Well, Wawrinka did beat Nadal in a GS final, so there is at least that.

How about Blake who had a winning h2h vs Rafa and beat him at a slam?

Blake didn't have a winning H2H against Rafa and I'm not sure that beating a 20 year old Rafa on HC proves that his backhand would have not been troubled by that shot.
